Billy Ocean "One Of Those Nights"

I went to an old school party last weekend. One of those nights, you feel like getting down. This joint comes on and man I was shocked. I never knew that he something before the Billy JEAN sounding queen song. This is a really smooth track. I am gonna do some research on this guy now. This is my TRUE SCHOOL (I hate the term "Old School" can we stop that? The music was true back then can yall help me?)

The only songs I've heard from him were from the mid and late 1980's. "One Of Those Nights" is the only song I've heard from him during the early 1980's. Yes , the song is very smooth and funky. smile

Definately his best song ever. Much better than that pop shit he did later.

Actually , I like his mid and late 80's songs especially "Love Zone" , "Mystery Lady" , and "Caribbean Queen".

Classic jam. That cut has arrangements and breakdowns that you never hear in R&B anymore. Never knew it was him until a few years ago.

I like "Caribbean Queen", "Loverboy", and "Suddenly". They don't come anywhere near "One Of Those Nights" though.

Another classic jam from the summer of '81 headbang In the past,I've done several threads on that summer. It's amazing how many great R&B/funk jams were out that summer! I was listening to the radio all day long and I had dozens of favorite songs.

We were discussing this song a few days ago....

I like some of Billy's mid-80s hits, but nothing compares to "Nights (Feel Like Getting Down)".That's my favorite song by him.

His 1984 album 'Suddenly' is superb.I remember liking the first side ALOT:

"Carribean Queen"---the long, extended version was featured right there on the album

"Mystery Lady"
"Syncopation"
"The Long And Winding Road"
---excellent cover of the Beatles classic

I also like the title track.I highly recommend this album.
