What do you think is Stevie Wonder's best 80's album?

Most people will tell you that in the 80's Stevie Wonder started to lose some of the creativity that he had on his 70's records. But IMO he had some solid albums in the 80's, none of them are better than his output from the 70's, but they are most def worth owning and listening to. For my money, I think that In Square Cirlce is the best. Characters is a close second. (Hotter Than July is solid to) What do you guys think? What do you think is Stevie's best album of the 80's?

I think I'd go in reverse order of you, Hotter, Characters, In Square Circle.

Hotter than July comes the closest to the magic. In Square Circle has hits, but not my favorites by any stretch. Characters is underrated IMO.

IMO, Hotter Than July is his best 80s album, but there are so many great Stevie Wonder songs from the 80s like That Girl, Overjoyed, Do I Do, Part-Time Lover, etc., it's difficult.

nod Hotter Than July is great and so is Characters. In Square Circle isn't as good as those two.

I've sampled Characters and it sounded like Bad to me, but geared towards adults, so I'll go with that one. I Just Called To Say I Love You is the first Stevie song I knew, as well as this other one where he has a yellow shirt in the video and plays the keyboards underground, though I don't know the name of the song.

I remember my mom had The Woman In Red soundtrack. That album made me not like Stevie Wonder.

I must agree with what a lot of you are saying. Hotter Than July is a great album. To be honest you can't go wrong with any of his 80's albums (although "The Woman In Red" isn't all that good to me). But I think that In Square Circle is totallty underrated. Songs like "Never In Your Sun", "I Love You Too Much", and "Go Home" are classic Stevie Wonder songs. Charcters is just as underrated. I've read that the biggest problem some people (mostly music "critics") had with Stevie's 80's work is that he relied too much on the synthesizers. That may be true to an extent, but the medlodies remain awsome.
