Beyonce doesnt allow herself to actually act, she just keeps playing these roles as a singer so thats all we will continue to see her as...a singer! Why doesnt she just spring out the box and do a movie about a heroin addicted junkie whose a lesbian and kills herself at the end of a movie? Why doesnt she act in a movie about a foreign political figure who is held hostage, raped and conquers her captors in the end? Or something that would make us see her in a totally different light. Wouldnt that be admirable of her? Wouldnt that be spellbinding? And this is coming from a person who cant stand Beyonce but I would respect her a little more! I wonder if she even wanted to do this part or if her father persuaded her into doing it like a pro manager would. I mean, I just dont see her sitting down listening to Etta James when she was like 7 or 8 or whatever age she was starting her girl group. I hope this movie does well for Etta James sake just because Beyonce isnt a good actress doesnt mean that should take some steam outta Ms. James. Why does Beyonce and her camp refuse to acknowledge that people are sick and tired of her? I wonder.

For me, it’s not so much that its Beyonce as it is Beyonce is not a very good actress.

Outside of singing, I fail to see the hoopla over her. After finally seeing Dreamgirls I was really surprised at people thinking she was seriously Oscar-worthy. You’ve got people who act in their sleep better than her. And this is not to say she can’t become very good or even great but she’s not there yet.

About the idea that was posted for her needing to get ugly in order to get screen recognition:

I was wondering, don't you think acting requires more than simply "getting ugly" for the cameras? I think it requires something more than just getting visually ugly. It requires a person to pull something out of themselves that brings depth to their performance, that makes us believe in what they're bringing to us for that 120 minutes in the theatre...I think that one can do this either by way of having great method and/or technique, OR through identifying with the experience they're portarying so much that they pull that shred of believeability out of their souls & they take us to a transformative place when we witness them onscreen.

In either case, I don't believe Miss Knowles has the benefit of either. Make no mistake, she's an amazing singer..but I think her having little acting talent and not very much method and experience to draw on is her handicap for this vehicle. Thankfully, the project sounds like it's not a biopic,vs. the story of the contribution of the entire record company, so hopefully her screen time will be limited and they will keep her singing of James' classics to a minimum.
