First pic of Beyonce as Etta James 
Beyoncé debuted her retro 'do today on the set of Cadillac Records, where she plays legendary soul singer Etta James. Last month Etta spoke to PageSix.com about the hurdles Beyoncé would have to clear to walk a mile in her gold heels. "Etta James ain't been no angel!" she said at the time. "I don't think she looks like me, but that's all right. They can fix that up," Etta told us. And by the looks of things, Beyoncé is slipping into the role just fine.

I hope filming this movie takes ten years, that way she can sit her ass down and be busy with it. Seriously, after the Grammys I'm so beyond fed up of her over-exposed ass.
That being said, I agree she is in the ball-park. I still feel they shoulda casted an actress and not some singer/actress-wannabe. She was terrible in Austin Powers and Pink Panther. These bratty celebrities who think they can do it all and can't really grind my gears. They should take some professional acting classes and star in some indie films, learn some talent before they just use their "celebrity" to get them roles that they suck at, and others who work hard don't have the opportunity get, because they weren't a "celebrity" to begin with. New news... to me. Beyonce is portraying Etta in a movie. I'm a fan of James,I love her tell it like it is style, when she's singing or not singing.

...early on in her career she was a bit slimmer. I'm sure Beyonce can fill out enough for that era of Etta's life. When I saw her in Vegas recently, she's a lot healthier than she comes off in photos. tA  Tribal Disorder

There hasn't been so much as a trailer for this movie, and people are already labeling it the worse biopic of all-time!!! All we've seen is a picture of the girl coming out of her trailer, and people are freaking out!!! If you don't like the girl, don't go see the movie!!! Don't even talk about her!!! Shit, most of ya'll don't even own an Etta record!!! I swear, some of the snark on internet message boards just go too far!!! JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!! | |

In all sincerity though, there are those of us who simply feel she is not the appropriate choice for this part( particularly if there is singing involved). I'm from the schoool of chil'ren whose parents used to wear some Etta 45's OUT on the record player. I know that voice. Beyonce has a great voice. But truthfully, it would be pretty hard for me to embrace her trying to pull off a barefoot Etta stompin' across a stage during the last 8 bars of "Sugar On the Floor"  | |
