I know squat about Fat Joe, but the phrase is a reference to when there is a big controversy, but people consciously avoid bringing it up; never addressing it directly.

Like the recently slain white college co-eds. They were young white and pretty while the suspects arrested were young black hoodlums. Likely, the reports will not bring up race, but it's the first thing that stands out.

"Elephant in the room", or "ignoring the elephant in the room" is an idiom, or ann old saying that means ignoring a big issue that is taboo, like racism, etc. They say elephant because of how large an elephant is. Fat Joe could be talking about something/anything, listen to his CD

lol

maybe he's pretending to be important or controversial, and as he calls himself "Fat Joe," it's probably a little joke, too.
