Since it seems that alot of the discussion on this site seems to focus on Prince (of course!) and certain two other singers born in 1958 (Madonna and MJ) I thought it would be a good idea to make some kind of 2CD-compilation featuring these three artists. Now I ask y'all to make your own version of the best, the cream of the crop from these three artists.
First I'll set some ground rules:

* The tracklist should fit on 2 CDs
* No artist should have more than half of the songs in total
* No artist should have less than a quarter of the songs in total
* Only ONE version of each song


I know I should have my tracklist ready but I hope to post mine once this thread gets going. I'm really interested in seeing what people here might come up with.

Interesting. Well, not really, but it might be fun.

Will take some thought.... Hits? Best of? Anthology? Hmmm.

It doesn't have to be focused on the absolute best songs or the biggest hits, at least my focus would be more to have the track sequence with some kind of "flow", whether it's chronological order or just random, as long as each artist is properly represented.

I actually tried combining both. I've made disc 1 of the compilation (still working on disc 2) and I kept it semi-chronological and tried to string together tracks with some kind of flow to the lyrical themes or at least the sound.

I had to go to 3 discs. Don't know if a forth is necessary. I've been doing in chronologically and if I do a forth disc it means I'm going into 2000s territory and I don't think anything either 3 has done this decade really stacks up to their previous work.
