Tell me about Daft Punk

Are they any good? I've been hearing quite a bit of samples of their stuff in other songs

Great videos. You must know 'Da Funk' with the Dog head boy video and 'Around The World'?? Go to youtube and search Daft Punk, Im sure they'll be there. I hated that Kanye sampled 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger', 'cause it's so great, his azz didn't deserve to go anywhere near it.

dance is jaded. it's very good techno dance pop music. they released a "live" disce just a few months ago that i think is pretty fantastic. at the very least, i think it's perfect gym music.

I've heard Around The World and One More Time. That's about it

The first two albums Homework and Discovery are modern classics; Homework is masterpiece of acid-house & techno, and Discovery is more dance-pop oriented, but still very strong.

Their third album, Human after all, is somewhat less inspired and repetitive, but still interesting.

And as Anx has said their live album Alive 2007 is entertaining as hell...

WHat you need to know....

Homework- First ALbum and it's great. Old Skool House and Funk given a slight techno twist. This is a party album. It's also quite clever with some of the arrangements. Strong Cuts...Da Funk, Around the WOrld, Revolution 909, Burnin, Indo Silver Club

Alive 2007 - Live album

Music SOunds Better with you - Stardust - Was a HUGE dance tune that was produced by Thomas before...

Discovery - Completely different album and direction. Namely lyrics are added to the mix. SOme are good some not so much. Most of the songs are dancey but not House like as the first the album was. Most of the songs are dancey because they simply have a 4X4 backing beat. I think this is a very experimental album for them. Strong Cuts.. Harder Better Faster Stronger, One More Time, Face to Face, Aerodynamic.

Discovery Music Club - Remixes from the club. If you got Discovery you received a special "pass" into an online site that you could download new mixes as they put them up.

I will take a moment to say that the remixes of their songs are nothing to write home about. The songs themselves are great and I would imagine a remix being hard to do.

Human After All - I know some like this album, but most of the fans do not. There is a psychedelic techno sound that permiates the album. Much of it is SO repetitious that one "gets" the song after 1 minute into it. The album also suffers by weaker attempts to recapture some of thier older sound...Technologic is really HBFS and not nearly as good. It's hard to imaging why this album came about as it's really uninspiried. There are stories that this was the last album in their contract (followed by a Greatest Hits and another Live album) and this was thier fuck you album to the label. Unfortuneately when you don't have a lot under your belt musicwise, it can also piss off the fan who may or may not buy your next release.

Greatest Hits

Alive 2007 - 10 years later their final album from the label. This live album is INCREDIBLE. WHat makes it interesting is that there is a lot of material culled from Human After All, yet they put it out there in such a way and mixed seemlessly with all of the other cuts that it makes you wonder if you really over looked their last studio album. Then when you actually drag it back out, the songs are still boring and repetitive. Yet live they Rock.

I've listened half-heartedly to most of their albums, without much grabbing me, and I thought "One More Time" was one of the most annoying songs of the decade.

But I heard Alive 2007 at a friend's a few weeks back, and instantly downloaded it. The energy on it is amazing--definitely want to see them live now.
