Found this pic (on the Thomas Dolby site of all places) of a Return To Forever show I saw in 1975 on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Fl.

...My friends and I were on the right side of the stage.

Some of my band mates and I drove from Tallahassee to Gainesville to catch this free RTF concert that also included Larry Coryell's Eleventh House as the opening act.

Great show (both bands). After the RTF set we got the opportunity to talk with Stanley Clarke & Lenny White. They were scheduled to perform in Tallahassee the following night. We mentioned to them that we would be playing at a club in town and if they were looking for a place to hang out after their concert that they should consider stopping by.

On our drive back the consensus was, "Yeah right, they'll stop by." rolleyes

The following night we're into our second set playing a Stanley Clarke tune called Power. Everything was going well until I noticed the bassline starting to fall apart. Looked over at our bass player and he's sweating buckets. Gave him a WTF's up? look and he nods his head toward the front of the club. There in the doorway stood Stanley Clarke, Lenny White & Al Dimeola. Stanley's got a smile on his face and giving his mates "the elbow" as if to say, Yeah, that's my tune.

I knew I could count on my Org family to bring up this band. I am wobbling right know on wether to go to the Frisco set, My only hang up besides not having a date is the fact that I know nothing about this group. I'm familiar with the members as individual acts but not as RTF. What dose their music sound like, what is their style? Who could they be compared to, past or present?

Yeah man. Di Meola was a big big influence on post Hendrix guitarists in fusion. I kinda fell off when he hit with Electric Rendezvous. SHEESH! That band was killer with Anthony Jackson (bass) and Jan Hammer (keys). cool

They were really nice and encouraging to us.
