Recommend me some good bebop record. Preferably something with Miles on it. I tried finding out more about Charlie Parker's Reboppers (which Miles plays on) on wikipedia, but it's not even listed in Bird's or Miles' discography

Charlie Parker's Reboppers isn't the name of an LP, it's the artist credit for the songs released from his first recording session as band leader in 1945. They weren't initialy released as an album, but spread over single sides.

The songs are "Now's the time", "Billie's bounce" (both covered live by Prince), "Meandering", "Koko", "Warming up a riff" & "Thriving on a riff".

If you want Bebop and Miles, you're almost going in opposite directions. Miles was great, but he never had the fluidity to play classic Bebop. Just look for Dizzy (who certianly did have the chops) and or Charlie Parker. If you must have Miles in the mix, he played with Charlie Parker and he is on most any CP compilation.
I was recently given a copy of Sonny Stitt's "Personal Appearance" and like it a lot. It is a mistake that classic jazz is limited to a handful of the most known artists like DG, CP, and Miles. Charlie Rouse is a personal favorite of mine, too.

Bird and Diz -- An essential compilation of bop classics. The reissue features alternate takes.

The Yardbird Suite collection is good as well.

asdfjkl (get him to say it backwards and we send him back to the 5th dimension) is spot-on. Miles' style, even his early work, was quintessential "cool." His lush arrangements with Gil Evans are essential but markedly different from bop.

Bop and hard bop go beyond the architects. One of the clues is to explore the sidemen, many of whom went on to success as leaders of their own sets.

Art Blakey and Horace Silver were two of the purveyors of hard bop. I'd say you'd like

Thelonious Monk: Genius of Modern Music Vol. 2

These will give you a great feel for bop and get you started.

Bird plays lightspeed and lights out, but others moved bop forward as well. artists like Blakey, Monk, Silver, Sonny Rollins and Sonny Stitt (previously mentioned).

The history of bop is somewhat complicated, delineating bop from hard bop, and so on, but I think these artists will give you much of what you may be looking for.
