Certainly Thriller is a GREAT album. It's just that Prince is so much more of an interesting artist who has much more stuff to listen to and watch (bootlegs included!).

Michael Jackson has sold four times more than Madonna or Prince because he was the safe little act that everyone could like ranging from the youngest kids to the oldest grandparents. As soon as kids were old enough to outgrow "Sesame Street", then they got into Michael Jackson. That shit ain't cool at all.

Old folks didn't like Prince because he was nasty as hell and they weren't sure whether he was gay or not. They didn't like Madonna because she was a slut. They were two artists that parents would want to keep their kids away from as a person, much less let them listen to their music. What could be cooler than that, especially when you are a rebellious teenager at the time?

Of course you can sell loads of music when you appeal to everyone and are a "safe, boy next door type" with "good moral values".

Despite all these records, MJ's ass is broke, and Prince can't stop making money. If you want to make the argument about something as trivial as sales, don't forget who made the most out of it in the end.

ANother thing is that Prince has many achievements...musically. Notice most of us fans don't think PR was Princes best, many of us have other favorites that didn't do so well commercially. Honestly, there is some amazing music and solid albums in the Prince canon. MJ Has Thriller. Off the Wall and Bad are his other decent albums...but not considered Masterpieces. Prince has (IMO) Dirty Mind, 1999, PR, SOTT, Lovesexy, TGE and Rainbow Children...many of these are considered to be pinacles of Prince's musical career. I would actually consider any of these to be as good as Thriller.

He sure did change from good music to shit hop. If he were any other old school artist, I would call him a sellout. Considering that's it's Michael Jackson though and he thinks he's a big ole kid himself, he's just getting into what kids today are into, which is shit hop. Instead of getting older each year, he seems to keep getting younger. In a few years, he'll be recording albums of nursery rhymes.

I will never forget the time that the police raided Neverland Ranch a few years ago and it coincidently happened on the release date of Michael's latest album at the time. I never thought "Purple Rain" was Prince's best even when it was first released. Yeah, we are quick to set people straight that we don't think that "Purple Rain" is the beginning and end of Prince's work.

As far as Michael goes though, I wouldn't even consider the overrated "Thriller" album to be his greatest work either. My favorite would be "Off The Wall". "Thriller" was full of help from guest artists and too pop sounding. I actually consider it the album that ruined Michael because he kept copying that formula of getting larger than life guest artists to help him sell records. Actually, I prefer albums like "Triumph" and "Destiny" where it is just himself and his brothers.

Madonna is the most overrated bitch on the planet, she is purely shit!

Because Michael Jackson followed pop music structure. That combined with his immense talents made him unstoppable.

But when you see someone like Prince making unique music that is true to himself and still shipping big numbers, I find that more impressive.
