You were really cool if you had...
...a TV/Tuner/Turntable console. My first record player... 
...was similar to this one. The turntable would fold upwards and the speakers would pivot forward and latch closed. There was a handle on top so that you could transport it anywhere. My Dad gave this to me as a diversion to keep me away from his expensive AR equipment. He was only moderately successful...
