I'm feelin' ya Vain... Dazz Band is one of my favorite funk bands and KIL is one of their best. I have that album on vinyl. Man, I miss funk like that (or funk period for that matter). They never recovered when Skip Martin left the band. Don't think I've ever heard anyone that can sing quite like him. I enjoyed Wild & Free (86) and Rock the Room (88), but they couldn't compare to the string of great albums they did in the first half of the decade -- KIL, On the One, Joystick and Jukebox (Hot Spot wasn't bad, but they were beginning to water down their sound). Anyway, good to see some love for a great funk band.

I bought the albums "Keep It Live" and "Joystick". During the CD era, I bought their greatest hits collection, but back in the day while things were still jumping, the last thing I bought of theirs was "Let It All Blow" and I only bought the 45 of that.

As for watering things down, you are absolutely right. In the late 1980s, The Dazz Band, as well as the rest of the funk groups started watering things down something horrible. I blame a certain little miss goodie two shoes huge crossover pop success for that. lol

Yeah i bought joystick, jukebox, and hot spot but i have a few songs off
keep it live on my Mp3 player. I liked Love M.I.A off of wild and free
and the title track but not much else. IMO Love M.I.A is probably the
hardest ass funk jam the dazz band ever played. Rock the Room was simply dog
shit. That lead singer didn't fit in with the dazz band either. Their best
years were with skip easily.
Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint
