A really dreadful singer was a 70s disco singer called
Tina Charles, also really bad were Debbie Gibson, Paula Abdul, Tiffany, Fantasia, Sinitta, Mayte and Shakira. Also one who dosent sing, but would sound dreadful if she did would be Fran Drescher 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

I'm amazed, this thread is totally off topic....People just because you PERSONALLY may not like a performer doesn't mean they can't sing or have a SINGING STYLE that works well with their music. Yes artist, Mick Jagger, Ozzie, Macy Grey, Phil Collins, Bob Dylan, Axel Rose, ect.... aren't "Pavorati or Patti", but they are EXTREMELY UNIQUE and at least you remember them. Janis Joplin? Michael McDonald? ...come on??? I'm surprised someone hasn't said Tina Turner. I hate Whitney Houston as a singer (never liked a song, never liked the tone of her voice) But I would never say "she can't sing"
This is a REAL list of people who WERE/ OR ARE PRESENTLY the WORST SINGERS EVER Paula Abdul Jennifer Lopez Jessica Simpson Ashley Simpson Britney Spears Hilary Duff Fred Durst Wyclef Jean (thinks he's Bob Marley, but no) Vanity (glad she found Jesus) Appolonia Lindsay Lohan Rhianna (though I like her) Janet Jackson (though I like her too) Farrell (awful) Latoya Jackson (thank god she gave up, even her brothers told her she shouldn't sing) Snoop Dogg (though his song is cute, he should stop now) Kanye West(should never ever sing again) THE SPICE GIRLS (except Mel C) **Alicia Keys I separated her because she could be a better singer, but she's ALWAYS off pitch and sounds like she is trying to hard to be soulful, like she's constipated. I also hate her Prince singing immitation on that song that bites off Purple Rain.

Awful 'singers':
Mylie Cyrus That Heidi Montague chick (God, do not let this dumb bitch get a record deal, PLEEASE!) Paris Hilton Akon Britney Spears Jennifer Lopez Ashley Simpson Ashanti Lindsay Lohan Lord, there's soo many that should just give those record advances back and go get a job at Wal-Mart. Weak singers: Alicia Keys Rhianna Paula Abdul Nicole Shesonlyappealingbecausesheshalfdressed...or whatever her name is Fergie Janet Madonna Man, this list could go on forever, because even artists that I love have moments in their careers that make me want to put a pencil into my ear. Everybody has an off performance, but when they start happening more than they should, that's when I call them terrible singers. Their jobs are to make sure they can hear themselves when they are performing and some of them don't seem to understand how important that is. How can you not hear when your off-key and you have a loud ass earpiece blasting the music into your ear canal? Either find the beat or get off the stage and stop torturing people. I'm sorry, but any artist who has large amounts voice-altering shit on their album isn't that good of a singer IMO. If you can't use the voice that got you the record deal, than give that advance back and let someone else who possesses a real ability to sing have a chance at being heard. It's cool to an extent, but more than 50% of the album...give me a fucking break. Prince Rogers Nelson

I thought I was the only person who read that! That floored me more than anything else in this thread. Sorry when is album dropped in 03 or 04 the stations here played the songs non stop saturation (like every 3 hours each single). His voice is no where near as good as it was on the Doobie Brothers records. The songs are weak ass Motown covers that are a load of feel good pap, and he makes me want to vomit every time I hear his curdingly sickingly sweet monotone feel good, day glo ass voice. Yo my name don't sound like Tanisha for nothing 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

You found him annoying, but I think that's different. I don't mind most of the Motown covers and his voice still sounds good enough for me. If I ever thought he didn't sound good, one spin of "What a Fool Believes" or "Minute By Minute" would restore my faith. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Exactly! I think it's right to list Axl Rose though. On record he was okay, but live he sounded appalling. Terrible. Also, whilst it's wrong to list Janis Joplin as one of the "worst singers ever", I do think she sounded worryingly similar to Marge Simpson at times. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Avant-garde conceptual artiste she may be, but Yoko Ono sure as hell needs some singing lessons. Her distinctive vocal style - sometimes half-spoken, sometimes caterwauled, but always as tuneful as a car alarm choir - has graced countless albums with its experimental ear-bending. What Simon Cowell would make of it we can only imagine. Her voice is powerful, emotional, humane and real. You're so wrong on this one! they left janet jackson off, she must be number 11 or something

As for Madge, I wouldn't rank her with the best vocalist nor would I put her in the classification of the worst vocalist ever. Through the years, the emphasis in her music was mostly on Dance/Club Jams. However, she's grown as an artist with her vocal, writing, skills, and I have to give her credit for that.

Not a great voice, but sings with such passion and sincerity. Not to mention that he's also the greatest song-writer ever!!

Lead singer of OMD Kelis Captain Sensible Marilyn Richard Fairbrass [Right Said Fred] David Sylvian [Japan] Marilyn only did an album, because he thought if "Boy George can do an album" so can I. The joke was on her when the single got into the Top10, and she actually hated the publicity. Whats hilarious about RSF was that they had two global hits (I'm too sexy and Deeply Dippy) and made two hugely unsuccessful comebacks, last in 2004 with "Youre my mate". They should have released they were just a novelty act. Their singing wasn't that bad and was actually quite accomplished compared to some other people on this list. I think they were gay too. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince
