Nona Hendryx

Any Nona Hendryx fans out there? I've had her greatest hits cd for a few years now but just started getting her albums/cds. The one titled Nona is a masterpiece. B Boys is the shit and love Transformation. It is a crying shame how underrated she is. She rocks!! She kinds reminds me of Grace Jones in some ways, another underrated artist.

I've never really paid her much attention aside from the Prince track and her Labelle days.

I love the Nona (1983) album and of course Why Should I Cry.I bought Female Trouble just for that song and Baby Go-Go.

Skin Divers is very atmospheric- It's growing on me.

Skin Divers is my favourite album of hers. Not as accessible or even as mainstream as the predecessors, but it's a masterpiece.

On Nona: B-Boys, Design for Living (I love Patti in the background), Transformation, Run for Cover, Steady Action and Dummy Up. I guess that's most of the album lol

I've had Female Trouble since I was in college like back in 94, but I really just started listening to it. I have always loved Why Should I Cry since I was a kid. Baby Go-Go (great Prince a.k.a "Joey Coco" track-- even if he didn't produce her version) and Big Fun.

You're right, it is very different- very introspective. I'm gonna give it another spin this week. I just got it last month from my favorite used record store and it was a neww LP copy.

Yes, it's a shame that she's effectively been sidelined as the one in Labelle who wasn't Patti, the backing vocalist in Talking Heads etc etc. Hugely talented, near visionary; wrote some great songs, and made the stunning "Skin Divers".

It isa shame Nona doesn't get her props. I see the Transformations greats hits on Amazon- but some fool wants like 200 dollars for it. They must have fallen and bumped their head! lol
