I couldn't give a rat's ass about album sales by any artist. All I care about is if I like their music or not.

Are you hip to 'Masterfleet', by the way? smile

Is it that stuff you use to get your ass cleaned?

confuse
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

That is also true. All the groups in this thread were popular for a reason... they had great songs.

You've never heard of the Notations and Natural Four? eek I guess you have a lot of catching up to do, then. Because their records feature some of the most outstanding male group performances I've heard (and yes, of course I am very familiar with the other groups mentioned on this thread).

I don't think the title of the thread says "Battle of the best known male soul vocal groups", right? smile I think it should be about quality, not popularity.

Maybe you are a tad bit older than i am. I listened to the videos of these two
groups and while there performances are okay. You can't seriously say these groups are better than the ojays, stylistics, spinners, and even a few others in
this thread. No i never said that popularity or record sales always determine
quality and performance of an artist but i think in this case it does. Remember music wasn't manufactured in the 70's like it is now, so when it comes to these groups i think the proof was in the pudding.

I'm 33, so I think it has nothing to do with age. smile In order to find out for yourself, you should get some of their albums. The music is fantastic - what else would you expect from the Curtom-sound, produced by Curtis or Leroy Hutson. But their vocal skills are stunning. Listen to "Take it slow" by the Notations - it'll blow your mind. And the first two albums on Curtom by the Natural Four hold some of the most beautiful male vocal performances I've ever heard. Once you got these, they'll dominate your turntables.
And they'll make you wanna go get laid really bad. razz

Of course they did, but success isn't just based on skills. It depends on the label a group is signed to and their budget for promotion.
