Rakim Plans Live Album

Link
2/28/2008

Legendary rapper Rakim is scheduled to release his newest album, Live, Lost & Found, March 4 on Koch Records.

Lost, which includes the single “It’s Nothing”, will feature four previously unreleased tracks and 17 tracks of material performed live.

Rakim, real name William Michael Griffin Jr., is arguably the architect of modern-day lyricism. Along with his producer DJ Eric B, Rakim is best-known for the classic hits, “Paid In Full,” “Eric B. is President,” “I Ain't No Joke”, “My Melody”, “Move The Crowd,” "Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em" and “Microphone Fiend.”

In 2003, Rakim was set to release Oh, My God under Dr. Dre’s label Aftermath Entertainment, but after several delays it was ultimately shelved.

Cool Rakim is back on the seen with his Legendary DJ Eric B. Now, this should be a tight project no doubt.

Honey, Eric B has been outta the picture 4 a while, and will not be part of this.

Did U know that Eric B actually did little to nothing on most of the material?

He was more of a promoter posing as producer/dj, while all the time Rakim, DJ Premier, and others were doing the music.

G, I am spoken for. So save your honey for someone cares don't get your words twisted or put words in my mouth.

Rakim must not have enough material to release a cd, or there must not have been enough label interest(money) to release the new cd.

All that means is Rakim is known for those old songs as part of the duo Eric B and Rakim.

I'm afraid you won't hear Eric B on this live performance.

Rakim performed scratches on Paid In Full and made some of the other beats. Large Professor of Main Source ghost-produced stuff on the album Don't Sweat The Technique.

Not that Eric B didn't do anything or couldn't hook up a beat either. I've heard his solo post-Rakim stuff.

Slight Correction:

It was mostly all Rakim, Large Professor, and Marley Marl who did the music and the cuts.

Paul C and 45 King also helped out, but Eric B. didn't do SHIT.

I'm-a-say PEACE>

Certainly didn't fit in with the post-1994 sound of the time, but going back to it I don't mind it. smile
