Hair - The Movie

I just watched this for the first time since at least 20 years. Really didn't remember too much about it...but what a great flick! Completely forgot how good it was...

Some highlights: Of course, Aquarius...great version of this famous song. Also Lead hippie Berger (Treat Williams) dancing on the table with Mrs Garret from Facts of Life singing I Got Life!, Walking in Space, the acid trip in the church, the woman singing Easy to Be Hard to her husband who left her with their little son to hanging with his other hippie friends (that girl has some PIPES!), then finally THE ENDING! Man, what a sad ending...totally forgot that was coming. My girlfriend was balling! Just an all around excellent movie!

But wanted to share...other Org friends fans of this movie? If you haven't seen it trust me and check it out.

a buddy of mine who was alil "wild" had seen it and said ... lets all go ...

of course ... we were young ... and i think he might ve said it had some scenes with titties in it ! - i was probably only like 14-15 ...

not sure ...

but we watched it .. and i was alil familiar with some of the songs (my dad had a "hair" soundtrack ... but i LOVED IT ... absolutely shocked me the way that great movies do ... still watch it when i can and i went out and got the cd's of the soundtrack also ... wink

Great movie, great soundtrack. wink

It's funny to see this post right now actually because all I've been listening to for the last two weeks is the Hair soundtrack, the anniversary version with the full two record set on one cd. The bass player on this album kills! I wish there were musician credits contained within. I'll spare you the story, but "Where Do I Go?" basically saved my life a few weeks back. Anyhow, this is one I grew up with on vinyl and it's one of those records that is like "home" for me, if you know what I mean.

I know the thread was about the movie, and I'm going on about the soundtrack, but that's how it goes. razz

Glad to see this one getting some love.

Great movie. The movie is even leagues better than the live show. Both the film and the soundtrack are played here on a regular basis.

I don't think the movie did all that well when it came out, but definitely seems to have a cult following. My girlfriend and I have been talking about it with friends and all have agreed that its an underrated classic.

I just bought the movie soundtrack on CD yesterday after seeing the movie and raving about it on here. I didn't see a 2 CD set...what is on there? Is it the play or movie soundtrack? I have had the play on vinyl forever. Currently The Flesh Failures (Let the Sunshine In) is the track I can't get enough of...speaks volumes especially today. We've been trying to decifer the lyrics since they're so obtuse. Funny how people think its a happy song and that its being used to sell cars now.

I think the film part is better than the musical part of it (maybe that's part of what you're saying about the live show).

I prefer the acting to the songs, though there are some good songs in it.

That movie was very shocking to a young NDRU whose irresponsible parents took him to see films like Hair & The Shining!
