I'm still a bit pissed to read this one critics review in this Brooklyn paper comparing "Wines and Spirits" to Prince's magnum opus. (OK, second since I think "Purple Rain" is the best!). I'm sorry, but the fact that Rahsaan is branching out into different styles of music doesn't make him like Prince. He's still a neo-Soul man at the end of the day to me. I don't expect him to gain a bigger audience with this joint either.

SOTT was a great mix of Pop, Rock, Funk, Soul, Blues, Folk, experimental shit, and whatever else Prince did. Also, Prince was at his peak as a songwriter with his joint too. I wouldn't compare "Wine and Spirits" to Prince's peak album in the slightest. I think the only album of this decade that can come close to SOTT is probably "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" by Outkast. Just my opinion though.

Honestly as a big fan I dont think you could be objective at this. It could very well be as good as SOTT or better, just because he hasnt got all the marketting and timing Prince had doesnt make it anyless.
As a Prince fan I prefer SOTT, but Im not objective at this
