They actually released an album of this in 1992. It's titled '"Live In Japan 1992" or something like that. Very rare.
George Johnson from the Brothers Johnson also plays on that album. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Fender Jazz Bass seems to be the general opinion... The Jazz Bass is a good choice, solid and pretty cheap. Good for slapping too. I had a Yamaha bass when I started out, my dad had bought it at some point and I just started using it when I was starting out. Currently, I play a MusicMan StingRay bass (a bass like the one in the video you posted). My advice: Learn how to play Funk bass right before you start slapping. Too many bass players think they're funky because they know how to slap, but that's misleading. Learn how to walk that walk first .. learn how to lock in with the drums and how to hold a groove. That's what makes a true Funk bassist. Most of them just hide their lack of skill behind slapping .. it's really annoying.

James Jamerson Jaco Pastorius Paul Jackson Francis Rocco Prestia Those are just 4 cats (among others) that are some of the funkiest & slapless players out there. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Even Bootsy's playing with JB was slapless. That's when I liked him most.

That's true... and I agree, you should first get 'tight' so to speak and learn some finger funk, then start slapping. They don't play too much but whatever they play is so perfect for the groove. Simplicity at it's best. /peace Manki

Rocco is sometimes too busy for my taste too. George and Zigaboo are one of theee tightest drum & bass combos in funk It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

manki said: Personally I'm not a fan of Rocco Prestia or "Tower of power", Rocco's style might be too busy in another setting, but it's perfect for TOP. His playing combined with Dave Garibaldi's drumming gave that rhythm section their own identity. And that's something very few other Pop/Funk/Rock bands in general can say. Strangely enough, I saw him playing with Lola Falana at either Caeser's or MGM some years ago. He occasionally threw one of his signature 16th note patterns out there but he knew where and when it was appropriate based on the music. Other than that, he very competently played the charts. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 [Edited 2/26/08 12:51pm] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
