usually, magnetic fields aren't very crunchy at all. they're kinda somewhere between chamber music and electronic. their new album is kind of a departure. it kinda reminds me of when REM did "monster", only the MF album isn't as glam. Now I understand what type of "crunchy" you mean. My bad. Magnetic Fields sounds kinda interesting. I gotta check 'em out.
