Jackie Wilson... Prince, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder are probably my three favourite singers, but I think Jackie Wilson could be the greatest...
I was unaware of most of his stuff before Christmas but now thanks to the internet, youtube etc. I can fully appreciate his talent. Aside from having an unbelievable voice, his stage charisma is something else. Youtube him for Baby Workout - Shindig (my absolute favourite), Danny Boy, That's Why I Love You So, I Believe I'll Love On, The Way I Am, Lonely Teardrops, You Better Know It and his performance in Go Johnny Go. The videos for Higher and Higher, and I Get the Sweetest Feeling are also very good. I really can't get enough. I don't know if he gets mentioned on this forum a lot coz I've been away for so long, but let's have some appreciation!

Jackie Wilson is one of the forgotten greats. He could sing with the best of them but also move with the best of them. Was probably a mixture of Sam Cooke [vocals] and James Brown [dancing].
Michael Jackson and his brothers looked up to him a lot. They even opened for him a bunch of time before their Motown days at the Fox Theater in Detroit a lot (Jackie's hometown.) PRINCE: Always and Forever

My mother LOVED him.
He was great. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

Listening to his music, he vocal range is stronger than the R&B vocalist that came after him, he could have been an opera singer. Nobody could sing a ballad better than Jackie

Did you know that he was the god father to singer Jody Watley?
Also, he passed away years after suffering a stroke. His medical and I believe his funeral was paid for by no other than Dick Clark of American Bandstand fame. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Am I going crazy or does anyone else hear the similarities between 'Whispers (Gettin' Louder)' and Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean'? The drum and bass line! And didn't Madonna then copy it again with Like a Virgin? With both of them being indebted to The FOur Tops' 'I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)'... although 'Whispers (Gettin' Louder)' was released a year before that, if I'm not mistaken...
Well, either way, they're all great songs.
