The bidding starts at $3 million but if you apply for an eBay Mastercard you get $10 back after the purchase.

Such a deal. smile

I consider music to be an integral part of my life, but that is more records than I will ever need in my lifetime.

Maybe it's what separates a listener from a collector. wink

Assuming no sleep and that a person would only listen to music from the moment they waltzed out of the womb, that would take over a quarter millennium (250 years) just to listen to each song in this collection once.

Yes, you've just hit upon the main difference. wink

I have a friend that's one of (if he hasn't reached #1 status yet) the largest Miles Davis collectors on the planet.
This very issue is something my friend and I have teased him about in the past.

Question: Have you listened to all this stuff?
Answer: No.
Follow-up Question: Well what are you waiting for?

disbelief

HO--LEE--COW!!!

I often wonder what I'm going to do with my dad and granpa's jazz 78's. There not really rare or in mint condition, but eventually, I'm going to have to do somethng with them. Right now, I've got a working Victrola to play them on, but still. . .I wonder. hmmm

lol

I understand the utter joy that can be derived from just possessing, from just leafing through visuals, and even from just thinking about what one has and what one still needs.

But I can't go there anymore. Long ago I noticed that while I love collecting, I love listening even more.

So I'm on a hunt of a different stripe now; a hunt to find the greatest music ever recorded.

And I find that that impossible challenge satiates both the hunter and the listener. wink

Okay, while my collection is nowhere as massive as that,
for it's size, it's still pretty extensive.
On the one side I got the soundtrack to Cirque de Soleil's Mystere
and on the other, I have the extended Club Dance version mix of Naughty Girls Need Love Too by Samantha...
SuhSuh SuhSuh Suhmantha
Samantha Fox!

Man, if you bought all that stuff, where the hell would you store it? lol

That's way too many records for my liking, though. I'd hate to have millions records of genres and artists that I don't even like listening to.
I'm a practical collector, I only buy stuff I want to listen to (... well, I have most Prince albums on vinyl but I don't listen to them... wink)
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
