I just got this today. Very happy to finally have it on cd. My vinyl copy of Pure Pop For Now People was getting pretty beat up. Hopefully a reissue of Labour Of Lust will be out soon.

That is one great album.

I love the sound of Breaking Glass, So It Goes and Nutted by Reality are my picks.

So basically this covers just about everything he recorded from 1976-1978. The only slight gripe I have is that it would have been nice to get everything on a single disc (I think it all would fit) rather than as downloads.

In the '70s he was a member of the British group Brinsley Schwarz. He went solo in 1976 and released his debut in 1978. At the same time he was also a member of the group Rockpile who released their only album in 1980. Lowe is probably best known as the producer of Elvis Costello's early records. He's been releasing solo albums since the late '70s and they are all good to great but his first two, Jesus Of Cool (1978) and Labour Of Lust (1979) are by far his best. His sound on his early albums is kind of Beatlesey with a bit of new wave thrown in.

It's been getting good reviews so I might check it out. Breaking Glass is the first time I heard Nick Lowe back when I was probably 10 years old, Cruel To Be Kind was one of my earliest 7"s. I remember seeing a clip of Endless Sleep on Granada TV years ago (Live at Erics in Liverpool???) and loved the song.

I'll be picking it up - I'm a big fan of everything Lowe did in this era, but this album is definitely my favourite.
