Sheila E.

I think is Sheila E'.s best album.I was so mad at the lack of promotion and the fact that, when it was released, she had put her own career on hold to play drums for Prince. With proper promotion and marketing, songs like "Faded Photographs","Pride And The Passion" and "Love On A Blue Train" should have been all over the radio in 1987.This album should have been Sheila's 'Control'....her 'Off The Wall'....her '1999'....the big,hit-filled album that made her a superstar. It puts her first two albums to shame.

The Many Facets Of Roger

I actually like his version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" better than the original versions by Marvin Gaye and Gladys Knight and The Pips boxed

The Clarke/Duke Project

In the past,I've done a couple of threads about R&B music in the summer of '81.There was so much GREAT music that summer.I was going crazy, trying to keep up and buy all the good stuff, lol. This album is a prime example.Everyone loves "Sweet Baby",but I also dig "Touch And Go" and "I Just Want To Love You".An exceptional album from an incredible time.

Do Me, Baby

I have this album on vinyl, too.Love the songs "Fool's Paradise" and "Do You Still Love Me".

That's The Way Of The World

Their first real masterpiece. This is the album that made them superstars. It's funny though, these days when I listen to this album,I'm much more impressed with the non-singles.I especially like "See The Light",arguably the highlight of the album.

Rock On

I got this on vinyl too.My favorite song is "More Than One Way To Love A Woman".Can you believe that this song flopped as a single?! I think it's the best thing on the album.

A Woman Needs Love

Got this one, too.I think their strongest album is 1980's 'Two Places At The Same Time',but this one is pretty good too.

Island Life

Earlier,I mentioned the summer of '81.This album is another reason why that summer was unforgettable."Pull Up To The Bumper" is a stone cold jam...easily the best Grace Jones song of all.I never heard the rest of this album.Let me know if there are any other cool jams on it.

Aja

I have all of Steely Dan's albums and this one is my favorite thumbs up!

@SoulAlive - thanx for the rundown... cuz while I own most of this stuff already, some of them I've never heard... I will be sure & let you know about Grace's album... SIDE A sounded good as hell... I'll have to pull it out when I get home.

@Cinnie - so true... I follow your posts all the time, and it's unreal how similar our tastes are. When I heard the beat you did sampling Minnie's "Completeness" I nearly lost my fucking mind.

@Timmy84 - I see you brotha!

@paisleypark4 - yes Joss is probably my favorite out of the whole bunch... upon witnessing the warmth of this album on vinyl... I think I came a lil.. LOL. Especially when "Music" came on "colors of sound, scales of beauty..." I die everytime Lauryn chimes in on that part...

@Huey - didn't become a Joss fan until this album, never fancied her voice too much. Saadiq is a beast... if it won't for his contribution don't think I woulda heard this album. Makes me wanna hear her other stuff, because I've gotten used to her voice.

@chewwsey, paligap, Funkenstein, & StarMon - thanx for stopping by...
