That's true, unless Madonna somehow squeezes out an even bigger POS. [Edited 2/13/08 7:42am]

It's not like Mariah's going to have three weeks of huge sales. I'm sure she'll debut high, and sell well, but by week three, I can't imagine that she'll still be moving 300-400+ copies a week.
Madge should have nothing to worry about. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Madge should have nothing to worry about. yeah but mariah has a lot higher staying power on the charts in the US...i guess all that Madonna cares is that she debuts number 1 in US/UK and 39039093 other countries simultaneously, but she won't want to trail off while mariah stays in the top 5...trust, Mariah is the one bitch Madonna sweats I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Mariah will sell more copies in the US,but I think Madonna will sell more copies everywhere else. She has a worldwide audience,so she doesn't have to focus solely on the US.

Madge should have nothing to worry about. Exactly.Let's face it,nobody sells alot of records in the US these days, unless your name is Justin,Kanye or Beyonce These days, for longtime artists,it's really all about debuting at Number One (which she will),then concentrating on sales outside the US.She makes most of her money from touring, anyway. . I don't think the 2 week gap between them is a coincidence. I'm sure both labels want another #1 albums. So Madonna will get her 7th while Mariah will be her 6th. The female artist with most #1 albums on Billboard is Barbra Streisand, she has 8. Both Mariah & Madonna will probably overtake her in some years.

I dont think an urban Madonna album can compete with an urban Mariah album..and on top of that in 08? just saying.

That said I dont think Madonna's album will be Urban, she using urban producers to get that asthetic on her sound, but from what I hear its just a Madonna album with less 'dance music' dynamics in the production.
But Someone needs to re produce/re record her vocals from what I have heard, cause Pharrell and Timb are use to working with r&b/soul singers

I didn't realize that Pop music was a contest.
But now that I think about it, y'all are right. It is. Here's hoping that if neither one of these 2 divas wins, that someone else does.

Why not? In this day, age and mentality, competition seems to be the most important thing on the planet, so this makes perfect sense.

Madonna wishes more than ever that Mariah killed herself already doesn't she?
I'm glad they're both coming back and I'll buy both of their albums, but it's going to be exciting to see Madonna crush Mariah again, as she is the bigger star worldwide, and though Mariah is still big, it's mostly in the US and Japan, unlike what her stupid fans believe.

[Edited 2/14/08 5:48am] mariah's last album sold more then all 3 of them...i think alicia keys have already passed beyonce in just about 3 months. kanye had ridiculous 1st week sales but tailed off (did he hit 3 million yet)?, justin sold about 4 million and beyonce a lil over 3...this after both of them released 20 singles, went on tour, and signed on to sell any product that can be legally sold.these current pop 'superstars' record sales are not all that impressive when you compare them to the icons of the past.

Cyndi's got as much chance of landing a hit as Madonna's got of making a decent movie. Cyndi has talent, which is an occupational hazard in today's industry. You've only got to look at the huge effort Island is making to revive The Muppet's career to know talent is a low priority with record companies. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”
