Low Down Dirty Dog: R. Kelly Rumor Confirmed

*Chicago-based music retailer and industry veteran George Daniels has confirmed rumors that he and his wife, Regina Daniels, have severed all ties with 41-year-old entertainer R. Kelly because of a sexual relationship the singer had with their daughter, Maxine.

Regina Daniels, the singer’s longtime publicist, released a statement in November announcing she had quit her post with the R&B crooner, explaining only that a line had been crossed. Now, music retailer George Daniels is speaking out about the situation, confirming rumors about what led to the bad blood.

“He crossed the line with my daughter,” Daniels said during an interview with Los Angeles radio station KJLH. “It didn’t get to the extreme of that [sex tape] video or else I wouldn’t be here, if you know what I’m talking about.”

Maxine, who was 21 when the relationship occurred, is still in college at Northern Illinois University and “doing very well,” Daniels tells KJLH’s morning show host Guy Black. Though his daughter was of legal age, he says Kelly still took advantage of her.

“When you’re 21, and if you’ve been there already like I’ve been many years ago, you’re still 15 to 16 mentally. You’re vulnerable,” Daniels explained.

Daniels said he and his wife would hear rumors about her daughter and Kelly having relations, and it took a while for his daughter to come clean and admit it. When she finally did, Daniels said he immediately confronted Kelly.

“He denied it. He lied to me to my face,” Daniels said.

“The reason that I’m talking abut this, it’s not just for me, it’s not for my wife, it’s not for my daughter, but it’s for the public, “Daniels added. “It’s for other fathers and mothers because it doesn’t have to be a superstar, it could be the dude on the corner. There are guys who sit around and give your child a couple of bucks to go to school and then wait until they get a little older, then they set that trap. See, so I’m doing this really for everyone.”

Apparently R. Kelly’s camp has heard about our report which has been picked up by other outlets around the world and has responded with the following:

“It’s hard to take seriously the moral outrage expressed by George and Regina Daniels over R. Kelly’s relationship with Mr. Daniels’ adult daughter, Maxine. The fact is that they had no problem with the relationship — indeed, they encouraged it — while Ms. Daniels was on Mr. Kelly’s payroll.

It was Regina Daniels, then working as a publicist for Mr. Kelly, who persuaded him to attend her step-daughter’s 21st birthday party. And it was Regina Daniels who shortly thereafter gave her step-daughter Mr. Kelly’s private phone number, with the admonition: ‘Don’t tell your father.’ It was only after Ms. Daniels resigned her position to avoid being fired for incompetence that her stepdaughter’s relationship suddenly became an issue for her and her husband.”

Isnt R. Kelly married? I know he has some kids around, but is he married, or just getting the world pregnant?

Yeah, R. Kelly is married with children and apparently the wife is still separated from him and has thought hard on whether or not to divorce him or not. She was originally gonna do it then she turned it down then she decided that it wasn't worth it and again announced she was divorcing him.

Eh. 21 and they are speaking of her being "mentally 15 or 16". R. Kelly obviously has a taste for younger girls, but going public about a 21-year-old is just stupid. Sure they can sever ties with someone they don't want to work with anymore, but it shouldn't be linked with his history of other partners.

oh my goodness, they talk about this man as if he hunts for young girls to have casual sex with...and maybe he does, but i'm tired of hearing about this shit. If he hasn't been thrown under the jail by now because of the infamous sex tape thats been out for years, then is he ever gonna get the pay back for sexing young, underaged girls? Is more evidence needed? I really wish he'd keep his dick in his pants.

This is so prototypical of American society.

R. Kelly being bad is often about as deep as we wish to dig. On the other hand, a society that produces 21 year olds with a mentality of 15 or 16 is considered to be the cultural norm.

But don't dare suggest that this could be anything to do with the people who have the most impact on here life; because, after all they love her.

This is nothing new- and no one would be listening to Mr. Daniels if he had not been close to Robert. I remember the Hyde Park - Kenwood Academy days when Robert would come back up to the school to visit our music teacher Mrs. Mclynn- with his then group- the same rumours were flying around him then amongst us younger folk.

RKelly thinks he is one slick bastard and everybody around him knows it but are blinded by the bling.

Anytime somebody can put out 5 hundred bump and grind yo honey love butty songs- and then belt out two or three "you saved me"s to redeem himself- ya betta keep your eye on him if you have a 12 year old daughter!

this is the very reason I feel men especially in their late thirties on up should not try to rob some twenty something year old woman of her opportunity to live and appreciate the ages they have had the opportunity to live- if you are forty and she is like twenty five-- you had your twenty five and your thirty five--why should you expect a lady from getting that opportunity just because you can't except the fact that you need to grow up?

I think we can all agree that R. Kelly is a pretty sick dude. But in this case, the female was 21 years old. She's an adult. If she concented to this 'relationship', the choice was hers to make.

The daughter responds

. Kelly's camp has responded to accusations that he took advantage of his former publicist's college-age daughter. In a recently released statement, the singer blamed his former representative Regina Daniels and her husband, famed Chicago music retailer George, for pushing their daughter, Maxine, into the R&B star's arms.

As SOHH previously reported, long-time publicist and family friend Regina Daniels cut 14-year business ties with Kelly back in November of 2007, saying in a press release that the crooner had "crossed a line that will forever alter the scope of our relationship."

Her husband, George Daniels, aired it all out on local Los Angeles radio station KJLH last week.

"He crossed the line with my daughter," Daniels said on the air. "It didn't get to the extreme of that [sex tape] video or else I wouldn't be here, if you know what I'm talking about."

Daniels said when he confronted Kells about the alleged indiscretion, Kell's didn't give an honest answer.

"He denied it," Daniels said. "He lied to me to my face."

But Kells' camp recently fired back with a statement, according to TMZ.

"It's hard to take seriously the moral outrage expressed by George and Regina Daniels over R. Kelly's relationship with Mr. Daniels' adult daughter, Maxine," the statement read. "The fact is that they had no problem with the relationship -- indeed, they encouraged it -- while Ms. Daniels was on Mr. Kelly's payroll. "

Maxine rushed to her parent's defense, visiting the Chicago Sun-Times and giving the paper her side of the story.

"I take full responsibility for my actions," she said. "My stepmother and father didn't know about my relationship with the singer because I knew and he knew that they wouldn't approve ... so I tried to keep it a secret, but when my stepmother found out about our relationship, she resigned because she felt that Rob had 'crossed the line' by dating a girl that he has known since she was seven years old. My stepmom was not fired for incompetence. She was Rob's publicist for 14 years and always considered Rob not just a client ... but family. And Rob thought of my dad like a father."

Maxine didn't stop there.

"I am 21, smart and will be graduating from college this year, but I admit that I was swept up by his charming and generous ways, which I truly regret and have learned from," she added. "My brief relationship with Kelly last year ended because my parents were starting to hear rumors that we were together, and I was beginning to feel like it wasn't a healthy situation, especially with the pain it was causing me and my family. I felt that it just wasn't right. Also, in reference to my birthday party, which was held last spring, Regina did not push Rob to host the party. We both asked him ... and he readily agreed."

"In regards to the cell phone number, Regina didn't give me Rob's number and she didn't ask me not to tell my dad. Rob personally slipped me his number at another event and that is how we started talking. The Internet has been rampant with all sorts of rumors for months now and hopefully this will clear things up. I admit I made a mistake and I know I am not the first young adult to make a serious misjudgment."

Regina also denied allegations that she'd sought a six-figure settlement from Kells to keep quiet.

"It sounds good, but it never happened. I never contacted R. Kelly or attempted to contact R. Kelly or anyone in his camp regarding any money or any financial settlement or severance," she said.

R. Kelly is currently accused of another indecent sexual relationship as well. The R is awaiting trial in a child pornography case following the appearance of a video tape that allegedly features him engaged in sexual acts with a teenage girl. He was charged with 14 counts of child pornography in 2002 and has pled not guilty.
