(for all you mf's into accolades, she was nominated for a Best Urban Alternative Performance Grammy but lost to Lupe Fiasco )... The song is "Dream", I guess it's the single they're pushing & the one that played @ the end of an Entourage episode. If you're too impatient to let the song build, skip to 3:00. But it's worth the build so don't be a bitch like that, just listen to the whole thing! I think she's a bit nervous since this is her first tv appearance - she starts a little stiff & cracks a bit when she starts to belt it out (effortlessly, if I may say - the voice just leaps out of her). Trust me, I've seen this chick live 3 times & she's fucking amazing so any "mistakes" here are just nerves. Check her out, get the album, see her LIVE [Edited 2/14/08 9:59am] WHOO, Shit! DONE!

How anyone can't just stick with this performance from the beginning is just bethefuckyond me :disblief: Hands down, this is one of the most quality and most FANTASTIC albums of this decade Still never seen her live but the next time she's in shouting distance, I. AM. THERE!
I actually had one of my religious/faith/special powers thing with the song New Religion Dream, Gary's Song, Do I, Desert Song are really just killer songs and show off her vocal abilities but even when she's more subdued the songs are still just dreamy I can't ever recommend this album enough! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

So thrilled that she is getting National Exposure! She deserves to be recognized, cultivated as an artist and enjoyed by music lovers. It would be the hugest travesty for her to fall off the map. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

It's a sad state of affairs when people are hesitant to trust solid recommendations. Considering the oceans of crap out there, I can understand. Don't worry Cali, I bought this blind because of your recommendation. Afterall you did have me crying my eyes out on the train. I'm lucky I'm not blind from the experience

AWW! Can you make the Hollywood date? Hell YES! I'm preparing myself right now cuz that is going to be a HARDCORE day. That is the anniversary of my cousin's death and I will be paying my respects to her that day. I have to update the world but basically I got hooked up with a group called Heart Centered Speakers and I did my very first presentation last Wednesday on the power of forgiveness. I ended my presentation with the fact that my cousin was killed due to domestic violence and that I saw the group as a vehicle for me to give my message and a way to really fulfill the promise I made to my cousin in her passing that I will live my life honoring her memory by using and living my gifts in order to help others and that is exactly what that group will be for me. It was a wild year last year and my niece was the first birth in the family after my cousin, and her 6 month old baby Anthony, were killed so it was just especially moving and special to have been there to see her into this world and I am serious Cali, at the time New Religion was speaking to me big time but I was really nagged by these lyrics: A little bit, a little bit more for you so come and get a little more baby Another hit is coming back down for you so come and get a little bit, give me some Give me some new religion something that I can feel give me some new tomorrow bring it on and make it real drowning in sweet forgiveness come on baby to my life OK, you tend to call a lover "Baby" but this really isn't a "lover's song per se and the religious aspect of it is obvious but you wouldn't call God "Baby" either Well it wasn't until my niece was almost here when I realized The "baby" isn't about God or a lover.....baby is literal! And seriously this is at a time when my gifts were in full swing and revealing themselves in some absolutely stunning amazing ways and I realized why the song was speaking to me so hard. Because I was finding my true faith by being true to myself and being open to the gifts that I have been given. She was 3 weeks early and I would have missed it because I was going to Miami for the invasion the next morning. I believe that my connection with this song is the reason why she came early. To be a living illustritive example of the metaphors found in that song. She is something I could actually feel with my hands and what better example of the state of forgiveness than a pure unblemished child? Yup, I'm going to be a mess on the 15th 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Oh, thanks Calld for hippin the org to this chick. Cannot wait for her to make another album. I have learned about so much great music (and spent so much money on it!) here on the org, it's really nice to learn about someone new early, even if just by chance, and tell everyone here. That is what is so great about this place, IMO.

I must have seen her about 5 times here in NYC already, the first being at Pianos' about 3 years ago. And this was before she blew up. It's always good to catch the artists before they get big and famous. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.
