Happy 26th Anniversary THE BAR-KAYS 1982 album "Propositions"

http://www.last.fm/music/...?autostart

I love every song on this album except for " I can't believe You are leaving me" and "You made a change in my life".....

She talks to me with her Body is the JAM on your toasted bread.

Propositions is such retro funk....I love every bit of it...synthesizers driven all the way.

Anticipation is one of their best slow jams.

Do it (let me see you shake) is such an 80's club jam.

(Busted)...well, if you play this song backwards on vinyl...you will hear snippets of the demo version for the song "Propositions".....it is so funky & conventional.

I love "I Can't Believe You're Leaving Me" even moreso than "Anticipation". I'm a sucker for a falsetto.

I always wondered how it was singing falsetto? it doesn't sound like Larry Dodson. The same person sung some falsetto parts on the album "As One".
Didn't Winston Steward do some lead vocals live?

If you look at this photo, it looks like Winston Stewart is on lead vocals while Larry is shocking the audience with the antics.

It isn't larry singing lead vocals on running in and out of my life either.
I know they had another vocalist on board named reggie pettes during the
dangerous and banging the wall albums but i do not know if he had been on
board before.

"Propositions" is on CD and available at Amazon at a rediculously outrageous price of about $60 or $70. My vinyl albums are just fine. lol

Guess I'll have to look for these albums on my next vinyl hunt.I wonder, why can't they just remaster these albums on CD? What's so hard about that? It's the same thing with the Commodores.

I want that damn 12 Inch version of "Do It (Let Me See You Shake)". I used to hear it on WDIA (a Memphis station we used to pick up late at night) back in 1982. I couldn't even find the 12 Inch back when it was first released. I'm wondering if it was a radio promotional 12 Inch only or something.

What's the title of their 1984 album? The one with "Dirty Dancer" and "Freakshow On The Dancefloor"?

I have about 3 different promotional releases of that song and the version you were talking about was sold @ retail stores. One with a special dance mix, one with Vocals and Instrumental is one your probably talking about, and one with a slow song from the proposition LP (can't recall which one).

Here's a ebay snippet. DO It(Let Me See You Shake)

I got lucky vain. I bought mine the summer of 2006 for 9.99. I also bought
Confunkshun's seven at the same time. I guess the price went up because they
probably went out of print. I love the barkays but even i wouldn't pay 60 or 70 dollars for a cd. These cd's are remastered too.

I saw a cheap copy of 'Propositions' on CD at some point, didn't pick it up though. I'm waiting for remastered CD copies of 'Light Of Life', 'Flying High On Your Love', 'As One' and 'Coldblooded' lol
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

That's the one! I remember this album very well.It was a big hit in the summer of '84.I especially love the song "Dirty Dancer",which has a "Billie Jean" vibe to it.I also like "Dance,Party,Etc" which sounds alot like Prince's "DMSR"."If I remember correctly,"Lovers Should Never Fall In Love" is a great slow jam.

Why are funk CDs so hard to find?! mad And why do they put this stuff on CD,then it becomes "out of print" soon thereafter? This happened alot in the 90s.I remember seeing Rick James' 'Bustin Out Of L7' CD at a record store in the mid-90s,but then it went out of print before I could buy it!! I also recall seeing War's 'Outlaw' CD in the mid-90s.I shoulda bought it when I saw it,because it too went out of print very quickly. What's up with these limited edition funk CDs?!
