would you have accepted george michael replacing freddie mercury in queen? not that he would have...but would the queen fans have been okay with it?

Yeah the term "replacing" isnt possible in any group for the most part. Whether George could tour with Queen or record with Queen, i think that would be gladly accepted. I like how Queen when they have toured now, tour or record as Queen + whomever is doing lead vocals, they are in the studio now with Paul Rodgers. George is like one side of Freddie magnified.
He would never be able to bring what Freddie did, and he'd have to shut off most of who he is as an artist to be a part of that band. It wouldn't be a tight fit. So no, he could never replace Freddie. | |

I wouldn't like for him to have replaced Freddie Mercury in Queen. Because while I think Queen is great, I'm not that into them, while I like George as a solo artist a lot.

The short answer is "no".
I can't really accept Paul Rogers in the role, to be honest, and George Michael is an inferior singer to Rogers so no way, Jose. Personally, I have no problem with a band continuing after the loss of an integral member - let them move on and see what they come up with. However, I have no interest in Queen+ Paul Rogers - Just not interested in Queen without Freddie. But if people want to listen to it/ go and see it, then fine, good luck to the band and good luck to the people who follow them. This is not an exit | |

I don't understand the big deal with Paul Rodgers, his voice is average and his phrasing is okay but that's it. Could George bring it on the harder songs? Don't know if he can sing with that sort of energy plus his voice is a little softer than fred's too. Certainly he could of handled a lot of their material but not the whole package | |
