This list is a total joke. There are actually several people in there who have written some fantastic lyrics including the guy they've named the all time worst. Madonna is a far, far worse lyricist than any of them and yet she's completely absent. What a joke.

Don't take it so seriously. It's a conversation piece meant to make you angry about the artists you don't think should be on the list, and make you laugh at the ones you agree with.

There's no subjective way to measure best or worst lyricists. Several artists that I like are on the list and I'm not the least bit pissed about it.

Do you think Sting with his millions upon million of dollars and record sales remotely gives a fuck what Blender magazine has to say?
[Edited 2/13/08 19:24pm]

But is it really too much to ask for someone to do a list that has some connection to merit? And the fact is these lists do reflect critical fashion. Sting for instance is a very uncool figure. Alanis Morrisete is also a very uncool figure, but the fact is both have written some great lyrics in the past.
The fact that Madonna is not on here is also a reflection of current critical trends. Trends which are based on bullshit, not merit.

Oh and by the way, I can assure you if Sting finds out about this, he will indeed give a fuck. These millionaire rock stars are the most sensitive bunch. lol

Who made this list. I don't see anything wrong with 70% of the people on that list. LFO doesn't make that list for "Summer Girls"??

Hey, we're all entitled to make lists.

I've seen some people list their choices for the greatest albums ever and all I could do was confuse

Sometimes people don't like something and they say it's completely worthless--The Eagles, Bryan Adams, Planet Earth, Bon Jovi, 50 Cent--and it's not true for any of those, no matter how much they might suck! I can find something of merit in each of them. But who cares, it's just someone saying something.

Let's start a list of the worst lists ever.

1 NME greatest albums ever
2 Blender's worst lyricists ever
3 Anx's greatest albums ever (kidding! but he did include Xanadu!)

Well, at least they got Diane Warren in the Top 10, but I can think of a few people who belong.

Vanilla Ice didn't make the cut. But yet, they're put KRS-ONE & Paul McCartney on that list.

I sorry, but Blender has lost ALL credibility with this issue.

This list would only make Kevin Federline proud to be in the company of such well-regarded songwriters and inspire him to wreak havoc on our aural lives again.
