I am so glad Herbie hancock who I thought was dead, Won the Grammy last night. Also he is a self center typical ego maniac. If you going to ask the epople to turn music off so u can keep talking, then say something meaningful, not that someone said u are #1. Rap sux now along with your music boy. You is not Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, James Brown, Wayne Newton, Usher, Prince, or Elton John to get respect. I respect Ciara and chris brown more than you. Anyone else agree can I get a holla holla!!!

He might not be the best lyricist in the world, but his skills as a producer are out of this world. Just listen to Jay-Z's Blueprint and Kanye's own Late Registration.

Anyway I like Kanye and have mad respect 4 him. Although some time I wish he would shut up, he has given mad respect for positive rappers and his productions are top notch. Plus he never focuses on cars money clubs and jewlery unless he's joking, but about the more important things in life.

Love all 3 of his albums. WE bash him for having an ego, but dont praise him for being different in a dying dead commercialized genere of music.

I think Kanye is quite refreshing to the rap scene and he is talented but I think last night was the last straw for me.

I wish he could have just focused on his thank yous and skipped the extraneous comments and his joke to Common. It really seems to be difficult to just say 'thank you I appreciate your prayers/support' and walk off.

He's a great producer, an okay lyricist, and a decent entertainer. The problem is that his stuff is getting tired.

That being said, his stuff is very listenable. I hope eventually he disappears behind the boards, because that's where he can really put in work.

Every MC/rapper will eventually run out of material to talk about if their only focus is the material world, and if they did not start out as a political or socially conscious lyricist, they would end up looking stupid for changing their style so abruptly. I would like to see Kanye keep on going but I wonder if people would continue to listen if he all of a sudden acts like NAS. BUT, give him some credit, STRONGER was one of the best songs to come out last year, sampled or otherwise.

This Decades PUFFY. I never realized it so much till recently but the moves, the rapping styles, are very similar, so i think the next name change for either should be "puffy west"

i don't mind him, and all his bravado is just part of the show. i think he is doing interesting and different things with his music, and i think he has an eye for what's fresh and hip. i don't think he's a genius or even really "brilliant", but i do think he's talented and has some catchy songs under his belt.

Well, if there's one thing the public hates, it's a celebrity that speaks their mind.

Kanye hits the public in the fact with the cold, hard truth and no one can handle it.

Sometimes I've been telling others what he's said and then realised "Holy fuck, this guy is RIGHT". I don't think he's ever said anything too out of line (although bringing up race as much as he does isn't the best idea).

To me, his mother just raised him to be a confident, loud young man and to not back down to anyones bullshit and now look at him - winning Grammys all over the place and conquering the world (don't believe me? His CD sales were huge and this is in the downloading age).

He had a set in stone relationship with his mother and wasn't quiet about it - why should he be?

Finally a rapper brave enough to go against the stupid "gangsta" 50 cent type image and just be a normal person with a lot to say and all the damn public can focus on is "OMG! SHUT UP!". How about you shut up and listen?

Listen to his damn albums...you'll see someone COMPLETELY different from the ego driven performer on stage.

I don't know why everyone likes to think that's what Kanye's really like, all the time.

Didn't anyone see those pictures of him playing connect damn 4 with Beyonce?

Doesn't anyone notice how he's got himself a nice understated girlfriend (now fiance) instead of running around with a bevy of supermodels? (Pam Anderson doesn't count, that was for a video shoot).

I think everyone needs to just calm down and get over the fact that he speaks his mind. So what? At least it's never boring when Kanye's around. I get so sick of boring, generic "artists" going "Oh yeah...war sucks...don't do it...be real....c'mere ho". Zzzzz!!!!!

At least Kanye's tackled some real issues in his songs...oh but no one would know that because they're all too busy listening to his singles or reading up about his latest speech on some gossip blog.

People complain about it not being about the music anymore - so focus on the damn music!

And SO WHAT if he dedicated a song to his mother. SHE'S DEAD YOU KNOW! Why the fuck can't he do that? It's a beautiful, sweet touching song and she was with him every step of his damn career so why in the world is it wrong if he does that?

That's why, with a better MC, a better live act (though I haven't seen Kanye, I must confess but really, who's better than them?), and innovative production, I'm nearly always going to reach for say a Roots album instead.
