I hate the "MUZAK" industry!

Yes this is a rant!!! lol

why is it that in the music business, MUSIC matters so little? This whole rant came about because last week, the USA TODAY ran articles everyday about the Grammy awards. One of the first articles was on who would win for album of the year. Most said Kanye because his mom died(the sympathy win as they called it) and his CD sold the most....WHAT THE #$%# what about the content of the CD? Does that not matter?
Amy Winehouse is also nominated and they said she wouldnt win because of her behavior/controversy. What about the musical content??

Now I quit watching the Grammys years ago and dont put stock into winning awards of any kind but I cant help to think if the actual music has become so irrelevant and disposable that marketing and image has become the important thing

I know exactly where you're coming from, but this applies to the film and publishing industries just as much as the music industry. Ever noticed how Best Actor Oscars so often go to people playing disabled characters? Think about Helen Mirren winning a Best Actress oscar for playing the Queen and blatantly saying that the award was given more as a salute to Her Majesty than a reflection of the acting performance. She knew the score. All awards are based on bullshit. There is no exception to this rule.

Yea, it's sad... disbelief
All those awards big awards in music and movies are just politics. Ignore them, they are in no way an indicator of talent.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

What music content? Every album (minus two) that I have dug that has come out this decade, has come from an artist that was making music before this decade started. There is very little content for the industry to create jobs for, so they have to find some way to make these people seem interesting.

Why would Hollywood be any different from other people in other walks of life? It's the HUMAN condition.
