I LOVED Mr. O'Neal and Superfly is still one of my favorite films. It's such a shame that misguided opportunists derailed this excellent film from its rightful place in history as a classic. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Got it on DVD. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Damn, Ron broke it down in that interview. I was pleasantly surprised to hear him tell it like that. Right ON with the Right ON!
It's frightening how when he walking to his car how much I was reminded of Prince. I think it's safe to say Prince stole some of his swagger from this film. Oh and btw, my dad has a 76' Brougham (BRO-HAM ) with the same grill as SF's EL-Dog! True story. And it's still in mint condition.

I was just listening to an old radio interview of Mr. O'Neal's, and he said the term 'blaxploitation' was unfair, and sadder that blacks bought into it. There was nothing exploitative about 'Superfly'. It was an action-packed gangster film with an underlying message, no different than The Godfather, but that film wasn't attacked. Every black film of that era, good or bad, was labeled exploitation. O'Neal added that white actors like John Wayne's & Burt Reynolds' white action films weren't labeled exploitation. Telling it like it is.
