Whatever Happen To Drum & Bass and The Genre's Biggest Stars (Goldie, Roni Size, AK1200)?

I remember 10 to 12 years ago at best that Jungle/Drum&Bass was suppose to be the future of electronic dance music as well as potential threat to hip-hop.

What went wrong?!?
lol

I don't know whatever happened to it and I don't miss it a bit. That beat makes me nervous as hell; all skittery and shit.

No. But they did have a relationship that last a few years. I even remember that Goldie & Tricky had a massive feud over Bjork at that.

To be honest, Roni Size/Reprezent had the potential to be great. I'm disappointed they only lasted 2 albums as a group.

Translation: Fuckin for tracks

Drum and Bass is still kicking, but I guess it's called something different. Pick any one of the thousands of tags out there now. It's all the same stuff.

Can't say I'm crazy about it, but I'd take any of that over what's dominating right now.

Never liked techno or house, but drum and bass was very cool.

I have Dj Photek and LTD Bukem discs at home.

I wouldn't lie and say I miss it much but I thought of all the "club" stuff this had the most balls.
Music is the best...

Hip hop is like a diseased wild animal and it bit the hell out of the genre.

Did Sly Stone presage the drum'n bass sound by 30 years?

Check this track just posted on another thread:

Drum & Bass is still alive, but it's more underground these days.

Small clubs and pubs have DnB nights all over the place.

Boston has a big DnB scene... probably all that angst.

Anyway... it's pretty boring in it's ultrafast tempos... the drum parts (and the synths) seem 2 be racing 2 impress, via relentless, athletic jackhammering.

Seems like mostly ex-hardcore and heavy metal kids get into it the most.

It doesn't have soul, like House music, 4 example.

Ironically, like House music and Hip-Hop, it's lost it's way.

I was into House big time 4 a while, back in the early '90s, when it was deep, underground, tribal, etc.

Peace.
