Whitney's "One of Those Days" samples Isleys "Between The Sheets"...how many is that now?!

HAS SAMPLING GONE TOO FAR??

"Between The Sheets" IMO is one of the smoothest slow jams ever...but I must say sampling it is SO tired! Whitney's new single uses the track as it's backdrop...It made me think about the number of times BTS has been used..I could only remember a couple but I swear it's been sampled many more times...

"Big Poppa"-Biggie
"Slow Love"-Doc Box & B. Fresh (remember that one! LOL)

***OTHER OVERUSED SAMPLE***

Club Nouveou (sp) "Why You Treat Me So Bad"

"I Got 5 On It"-Luniz
"Satisfy You"-Puff Daddy
"I'm Gonna Be Alright"-J.Lo

any others???
Every minute of last night is on my face today....

I'm not against sampling totally, but Whitney has gotten lazy.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

And don't forget DeBarge's Stay With Me. If I hear that sample again...

But I had to pull out the original song.

it would have been Cool if She sung it with Ronald Isley IMHO.She is Missing that Knock Out Jam.She is doing just enough too Keep folks off Her but what Clive Davis Build Up Image Wise has Crumpled further&further with each passing year&Vocally She still Has it but Her Chops are on a Good B+ Level&So-So at other times IMHO.Musically She hasn't moved me fully since Her First Album.as far as Sampling Goes: The Industry wants what will Sell&Since folks Enjoy Sameness than you get what is Generally Accepted.it's another Tribute though too the Isley Legacy IMHO.I Mean there Sound never gets Old.it still Sounds Fresh.

There seems to be so much confusion and misinformation surrounding Whitney's new CD,it's crazy! Originally, the "first" single was "Whatchalookinat?",but when that song failed to become a hit,Arista announced that they were releasing her cover of "You Light Up My Life" as the official first single. Then, they changed their minds and quickly made plans to release a song called "Tell Me No" (featuring guitar by Carlos Santana) as the first single. And,now they chose yet another song ("One Of Those Days") as the single??!!

It seems like they're confused about what to do with her album. That's usually a bad sign.

IMO Whitney is an awesome vocalist, but I too am getting fed up with artists having to rely on samples these days or getting Ja Rule or The Neptunes to be in their friggin videos!...and like with MJ its sad to see her having problems (even her dad is now suing her for $100 million!!!) its so obvious that she has a substance abuse problem which her people have failed to hide and ever since she hooked up with that so-called "original King of R'n'B" Bobby Brown she has lost the plot. By the way since the Isley Bros DON'T own their catalogue they are getting crumbs from this recording,

You know what? I'M SICK OF SAMPLES!!! R&B artists have become so damn lazy!! Whenever I hear Angie Stone's song "I wish I Didn't Miss You" (where she samples The O'Jay's "Backstabbers"),I just wanna scream. Why do they have to "steal" music from an old song?? I don't get it.Why not just go into the studio with your band, and create NEW music?? Is that really so hard to do??? It used to be that just rappers used samples, but now you got Janet,Mariah and now Whitney joining the fray. And nowadays, they don't just sample a little piece of a song, they simply loop the ENTIRE song and write new lyrics to sing over it (Ashanti's "Foolish" is a joke, she's singing over a Biggie Smalls sample that HE stole from DeBarge!!!).Sampling is lazy,un-creative and should be outlawed.DAMN!!!

Back in the good ol'days (the 70s),artists didn't sample, they CREATED.Did Earth Wind and Fire use any samples? Hell no! Did the Commodores use any samples? Hell no! Did Rufus and Chaka Khan use any samples? Hell no! It pisses me off to see all these no-talent losers like P.Diddy use one sample after another, trying to make the young kids believe that their music is "new".It's lazy, cheap and it really has nothing to do with art!!!

Sorry for my angry post, but I just had to get this off my chest smile

DAVID, I TOTALLY, 100% AGREE WITH YOU.
This is, as I've said (too) many times before..
a BIG problem with "r&b" music today-
everyone just wants to get paid-
they don't want to invest the time & work needed to learn to play an instrument, they don't want to learn chord progressions & things like that..
& why should they, when you can spend a few hundred dollars & buy a sampler, steal someone else's music, creativity & emotions, put your own "rap" or lyrics over that music & call it your own?

There's like D'Angelo (who he himself does many covers, but at least he CAN sing & play several instruments), india.arie & maybe 2 or 3 other performers who are actually worth listening to today. The rest of it is just total garbage. I really try to be "open" to new performers, but the more I hear, the more I go back & listen to the REAL singers & musicians of the 60s/70s/early 80s..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

I heard that Whitney's entire new CD 'Just Whitney' has already leaked on-line,and many fans have downloaded it already. So LA Reid (Arista) is now delaying the album, and recording a batch of new songs!! He's only keeping THREE tunes from the leaked album. So,if you guys wanna hear these songs, you better download the album right now. When the album finally does come out, many of those leaked songs will NOT be included.

A similiar thing happened with Usher's last CD.It leaked out early,so Arista started from scratch and recorded a batch of new songs.

Also,Whitney just signed a $100 million record deal, and Arista doesn't want her to mess up their "investment".If this CD flops, some heads are gonna roll!
