Steve Miller Band - Macho City Who else remembers this from 1981? It takes up the whole second side of Circle of Love album - who remembers sides? - and is generally considered a self-indulgent mess. I actually listened to it today and it's quite funky: great bassline, some cool spacey synth fills. I guess it would have made a better instrumental, beacuse the rapped lyrics are embarrasingly bad. Steve Miller should have edited the length, made it instrumental and put it out with the other four songs on Circle of Love (which are all terrific - "Get On Home" even has a Prince-like keyboard riff, a la "Dirty Mind") as an E.P.
That would have been killer. Stand at the crossroads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths...(Jeremiah 6:16) www.ancientfaithradio.com

Never heard that particular song, but I'm glad to see a Steve Miller Band thread in this forum.I'm a huge fan.I once did a thread on their 1978 album 'Book Of Dreams' and it died a quick death.I think Finess was the only one who commented on my thread, lol. | |
