Bootsy didn't appear until Parliament.

Actually Bootsy shows up briefly on Funkadelic's AEIY (72) , but his output revs up in '74 with Parliament's UFTD.

Start from the beginning with this Funkadelic compilation Music For Your Mother. it doesn't have everything, but there are some choice cuts on here and the linear notes are nice too.

Reference my post on the other Funkadelic thread http://prince.org/msg/8/260610

Then you should seek out the extended version and the instrumental of that tune.

Much better than the album version.

And Groovallegiance is the reason to have the album.

Such a mesmerizing tune music

If you're after a compilation Motor City Madness is the best one. Music for My Mother has rarer cuts but in terms of an overview of their career you cannot beat the former. It truly rocks

In this age of Ipods this is probably irrelevant, but I used to go on the road for PFunk shows, so I'd MCM & MFYM in the 6 disc and let that shit rip on RANDOM...one of the very few times I use that function.

FWIW: Last two spots were occupied by Parliament's FIRST THANGS and GREATEST HITS: THE BOMB
