Larry Graham - 1983 rockschool Omg! That first groove is so funky. The guitarist is doing most of the playing. Larry is mainly just playing one note, the low E. But the groove really comes alive when Larry plays that note. It's almost like magic when I listen to it. You funksters know what I'm talking about! [Edited 2/8/08 14:34pm]

Yeah, I love how he slaps on the 2 and the 4. It's like my mind is expecting the slap on the 1 and the 3, but the 2 and 4 sounds so cool.

That's the great Tony Maiden of Chaka Khan fame laying down the funky guitar. Rockschool was my teacher when I first started playing - that chick on the geetar, Deidre(I think that's her name), had some serious chops!
Great program. My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

It was a show that aired on PBS back in the '80s. I caught it in repeats in the early 90's. It was about a group made up of London (I think) based musicians - bass, drums, keys and guitar - who taught the viewer about playing an instrument/music lessons/music equipment. They played examples to further illustrate the lessons. Herbie Hancock was the host, if I remember correctly...

It was a great show!!! Cool. Is it on DVD anywhere? Is it all that funky? It would be cool if the entire run of the series got a dvd release. From my recollection some episodes made it to VHS after the second series ended. This was in the late 80's. Both series had a companion book & audio tape. I've still got mine LOL! I was one of the first things I picked up after I got my first guitar. And no the entire seried didn't concentrate on funk. Most epidodes dealt with the tools & techniques & musicians of a specific music genre like Blues, Reggae, Funk, Rock and Heavy Metal. The second series dealt quite a bit with various electronic instruments.
