This has got to be THE baddest jam from The Commodores ever from their best album, "Machine Gun". Ain't no weak adult contemporary shit on this album.

Dude, I was listening to this album just last night.
Machine Gun & I Feel Sanctified take me back in the day,
when the Commodores were considered a funk band (before their ballads began overshadowing their beats).

Wild Cherry covered this song on their 1976 debut album.

Cool album, but I've never been blown away by the brothers' fashions on the cover there. They sorta remind me of the original 'Star Trek' uniforms, which ain't funky to me.
