"P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)"

This record could have the best-produced chorus of all-time.

Did Michael write this?

Just found this online on Wikipedia:

The song was originally written by Jackson and Greg Phillinganes and was a mid-tempo R&B jam. Quincy Jones wanted it to be more upbeat so he re-wrote it and it was Jones' version that appeared on the Thriller album.

There's your answer.

Thanks! But, also according to Wikipedia, the writers were "(Ingram/Jones)". confuse Would this be James Ingram? confuse

yes,it's that James Ingram nod He's mostly known for ballads, but apparently,he has a funky side too.He had something to do with Carl Carlton's 1981 hit "She's A Bad Mama Jama".

I never knew James Ingram wrote the song. So now I'm confused as to who the real writers of "PYT" are. I seem to remember reading/hearing somewhere that Quincy Jones was, indeed, the one who wrote it. smile

The demo Michael co-wrote can be heard on The Ultimate Collection. It's excellent (as is the album version, of course).

I use to love that song. Now I can't even stand to listen to it anymore.

Yeah, I know...that's supposedly my fucked up issue as I was told once before when I mentioned this but whatever. I'm not the one that's been accused of sleeping with P.Y.T's not once but twice! shrug

James Ingram can craft a pop song. I'm not surprised he was involved with writing "P.Y.T"

Has anyone heard his track, "Better Way?" It appears on the Beverly Hills Cop II soundtrack. It is a great pop song. It kind of sounds like the song, "Higher Love."

I like that version better, only because it sounds fresh.

I thought I was the only one who preferred the Demo to the original. I mean of course the original is great too , but I just prefer the demo overall. It sounds so different to the original, more of a mid-tempo song. He should have included both versions on the album.

He's still collecting money off PYT since Kanye West sampled the song(and slowed it down) for his GOOD LIFE song....

Love both it and the demo...but I like the demo a bit more. Simply because it seems just more fresh. Seeing as I've heard the original 1,00000 times and probably only heard the demo 1,000 times. LOL biggrin

I just heard the demo recently and I prefer the demo to the original too. I love the released version but there's a smoothness on the demo that I just love. Plus it doesn't really sound dated.

I love both versions. PYT is the only song with a chipmunk voice I could ever listen to.

Will.I.Am's re-vamp of the original is incredible! smile

I always thought at the ending he was saying..

"You know I think it would be real nice, if uh, you and I could just get together..You're such a PYT. You and me"

Maybe I'm wrong.
