June7's "I'm Going to the Grammys!" Thread So, it's finally happening! I'm going to the Grammys, and will be walking down that red carpet!
Here's my official ticket! 
And now that I know Prince is gonna be there, and possibly Michael!!!! I just know it's gonna be a beautiful night! My friend just informed me that the entertainment in the afterparty "Celebration" is none other than Cyndi Lauper! I can't wait! I'll fill you all in on the festivities afterwards! |

Thanks... what I've been told by the peeps that are taking me is that at the after-party it's an open bar, and you chill with all the celebs who go there (it's right next door to where the show was held). No photos are allowed, and they'd confiscate my phone if I take pics with it. So that's a bummer. Cyndi Lauper will be performing for us, and who knows who will jump up and do something (enter Prince.... please!!!)

I asked my friend about the whole red carpet thing... he said that even though we're on the red carpet, it's too busy to even see us, that it's like a wave of people moving in the same direction, and most of the cameras are looking for celebs. 
I don't care... I just wanna know who I'll be walking next to, or who I'll see at the after party drinkin' what! I'ma take my laptop so I'll give you a rundown from the hotel... if I'm not all drunk off my ass! |

What I want to know is how does a normal person ever score a ticket to the Grammy's? The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

This should answer dag's and 2020's question:
I have a friend in the "business". Actually he does bridal shows, has a hugely successful karaoke business and has been a dj for a long time. He is a member of the RIAA, or something like that, and because of his membership is eligible to purchase tickets to the shows. So, back in August or so, he asked me if I was interested in going, that he and his wife wanted to take a couple people that they know would have a great time! I jumped at the offer. They are also setting me up with a hotel room, too! The other person going is a friend too, so that makes four of us! I found out later that they paid $500 per ticket. We're on the third tier. The next level down is $2500 a ticket, and the next level down after that is pretty much nominees! lol The afterparty is everyone together! Imagine chillin' and drinking with celebs you've only seen on the tube or heard on the radio or cds! I know... I'm very lucky! |

Have fun--my sister and I went to the 2004 Grammys (I'm a voting member)--it was the BOMB! And getting to see Prince at the House of Blues afterwards was a beautiful ending to a wonderful night. I do remember that the Staples Center was FREEZING, though. If you get a chance, be sure to attend the pre-Grammy show at the Convention Center. You get to sit wherever you want, and the music is fantastic. It's more of a musician's show, whereas the televised show is more hype. This year, my sis and I are going to the viewing party in Chicago. [Edited 2/8/08 19:59pm] | |
