Shouldn't all that be PAST tense, as he hasn't done either in a long time. [Edited 2/6/08 16:41pm]

Yes she is. At least she's still going strong while MJ is pretty much of a nostalgia act now. He's been supposed to release a new album since 2003...

Anyone who takes madonna seriously as an artist is on crack , and its even more laughable when people compare her to MJ...Madonna doesn't even have half of Mj's talent... MICHAEL JACKSON

Michael and Madonna hanging out together in 1984:
Back then,Michael was truly at the top of his game.More popular than anybody.Who knew that he would be the one to self-destruct,while she would be the one who's still going strong all these years later? I don't think anyone would have predicted that.In fact, everyone thought Madonna would be a one-hit wonder!

Not at all, I can argue Stevie Wonder is more talented than MJ, or Prince. But certainly not Madonna. Madonna is barely a product of the Michael era, the video era. Michael created it and Madonna took it to her advantage. Madonna would be nothing without video. Michael was already a legend during the classic pop era. He just enhanced an era, in which he redefined everything. Post Thriller created a new breed of stars and killed a generation of them. I've never been impressed by her output, her live shows or whatever. She's an opportunist who tries to remains relevant by trying to hang on with some of the most fashionable people. When she doesn't have any promo, she dies. Her records doesn't sell with no actuality. Michael's Off The Wall alone sells every week what her catalogue do. I do believe Madonna shouldn't have become a singer, she's not fit for it. However, I'm impressed by the fact that, with strenght, ambition, she could outlived every expectations and cement a place for her in music history books.

I believe back then most critics said Cindy Lauper would last while Madonna would fade away in 6 months. However, like I said earlier, Madonna can try hard to go strong, she'll never matter like Michael. It's been 7 years he didn't released new material, but he's more prominent by his influence and legacy than her. There's not one day I don't see a Michael reference in pop culture. He's arguably the most influential person in pop culture today.

I have to disagree.Michael is extremely talented,no doubt but these days, his talent is NOT what people are talking about. He's done alot of damage to his career and to his legacy. He's become a media freakshow/circus.Meanwhile,Madonna continues to do great things with her career. She still releases albums. She still tours. She's still focused on her music.

Firstly i would like to say i am an MJ fan. In the 70s 80s 90s i would easily say MJ was at the the top of his game and by mentioning 70s,I do mean when he was performing with his brothers(mostly) Ofcourse i think like was stated sum were earlier on this thread Maddona has stood the test of time and still has sum good music coming out. Time will only tell if MJ brings out new material this year or next and if he produces the goods. But to be honest i hav a suspition the only album we will be seeing from him for a few good years is Thriller 25 and if thats the case i swear i am burning every album of his i own(which is all of them) cuz im sick of fucking waiting for that skeleton faced bastard to release new material not shitty remixes.

I had to smack my mate Tom (who is 1 of them MJ protectors)for winding me up all night going on about how shit P is and he went on and on and on and on.....so i just punched him.
