By Tenley ‘P.Y.T.’ Woodman Monday, February 11, 2008 - [Edited 2/12/08 7:32am] Thanks for posting that bro. Very true, even to the kids like me who didn't get into Thriller in the early 90s. So whats it gonna be bboy, Circuit City, Best Buy, or Target? I think I'm going for Circuit City. I hope that dance mix of WBSS is mindblowing. Neither for me I just reserved the Japanese edition "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Who in here among 50-60 million DIDN'T BUY "Thriller" and if you didn't, I BLAME YOU for "Thriller" being at 27 million rather than 30 million.

Look for the cover that matches my avatar, not the zombie/book edition. Look for a sticker to say - "EXCLUSIVE BEST BUY SONG." This remix will blow your mind! It puts these 2008 remixes to shame. I'll probably end up buying the Circuit City edition also, to get that WBSS dance mix. I know people might think I'm crazy for buying multiple copies of Thriller 25, but I think it is worth it. And since Michael is my favorite artist, I suppose it is justified. Cheers! [Edited 2/12/08 14:04pm] MJ Fan 1992-Forever

Dude, let me tell you a funny MJ story from my childhood. When I first started getting into MJ, my Mom saw me watching him on MTV, and gave me a copy of Thriller. I searched that whole tape looking for "Who Is It" and was like, "It isn't on there!" And I started listening to like "Billie Jean" and "Human Nature" non-stop. Finally after like a few days, she took me to this HUGE music store in town, (NOW OUT OF BUSINESS ) and told me to get one of EVERY album of his I could. She said I would like all his music. I remember I left that music store with like 10 tapes. Off The Wall, Thriller, Dangerous, Jackson 5 Greatest Hits, Jam Single, Who Is It Single, Heal The World Single, and all sorts of amazing stuff. It was pretty much everything except Bad. LOL. A few weeks later, my cousin came in town and knew I was big into MJ. She asked me, "Where is your copy of Bad?" and I said, "Oh, that is the one I don't have yet." She looked at me SHOCKED. She goes, "How can you be an MJ fan and not have Bad?" She literally took me to the music store right after she heard that and bought me a copy of it. This all happened back in 1992 and I've never been the same since. MJ Fan 1992-Forever

That's kinda how I found out about Michael, but a little different. We already had the albums in my house We had Off The Wall, Thriller on vinyl and we had Bad on cassette. We also had 2300 Jackson Street on tape, and still don't know who in the hell bought that one When I was 7, my cousin gave me Off The Wall on CD and my very first CD player. There was a store in Virginia that was called "DJ's Music and Video" and that was like MJ heaven for me. They had The Souvineir Series, the Dangerous pop up set, all of the Jacksons albums. One day, that same cousin took me there and I came home with Got To Be There, Ben, Bad(my first copy had gotten worn out), Destiny, Goin Places, Triumph,The Jacksons, and The Jackson 5's Greatest Hits. All of the cassettes were $5.99 so it was a good sale "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Sure, I'd heard the song "2300 Jackson Street" but something that always confused me was, I remember reading that Michael quit the Jacksons after Victory. So I remember wondering, "How did they find someone to sound EXACTLY like him for this song?" It never occurred to me that he REALLY sang on the recorded version. I was convinced for years, they found some sound-alike. Years later, I realized my stupid error and I saw the music video and loved it. MJ Fan 1992-Forever

Then they release little samples or brag about having it. How selfish and just rude. Share it! MJ Fan 1992-Forever

For any fans who are keeping score:
Best Buy's BONUS remix is ten times better than the Circuit City remix. The "Thriller" (1982 Def Mix) has a total early 90s remix vibe to it. Had someone told me it was made in the 1990s, I wouldn't have been surprised at all. However, the title shows it was made in 82. As for the "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin" dance mix, it was disappointing. Nothing is really that much different, from the album cut, except a few more "Mama say mama somb blah blahs blahs" and a 15 seconds more of music. What a disappointment. True collectors might like the subtle change, but all and all, it ain't all that! it ain't bad! it ain't nothin'! In short, buy it from Best Buy for the Thriller bonus remix, or buy the Japanese edition. I hate that clusterfuck of a store, Best Buy, but I have to plug it in this instance. MJ Fan 1992-Forever

[Edited 2/12/08 18:32pm] Nope. Just the standard mix. Look for a sticker that says "Bonus Tracks." Trust me, you ain't missin anything with the WBSS Dance Mix. Enjoy the cooler cover and better booklet. MJ Fan 1992-Forever

Anyways, I am kind of excited about this era. For once, the media is focusing on his personal life and his music. For the last several years, it has primarily been about his personal life. Now there are newspaper and magazine articles about his music as well. Perhaps it was a good plan to release Thriller 25.
