It was over the day people actually bought something from Jagged Edge, but they still have the New Edition circuit and gigs like this as well as any connects they still have. It's not big money, but they're doing better than a lot of people. People you see and hear about every day who NO ONE would want to see, free or not

Boyz II Men were over as soon as the '90's ended. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

They were so dated by the end of the decade.

Yeah i remember the thread on them from last month.
I don't want to step on anyone's toes but what is mind boggling to me is that you hear complaints here about the lack of sincere r&b in today's music and boyz II men are trying to give you that and there are still complaints. You know yall some fickle fans. Just because them boys have to perform at a few malls across america don't mean yall have to shit on these fellows. Yall ain't right. Don't laugh at my funk

Well I like their style (still do)... It's just unfortunate how they fell by the wayside after '97.

I loved 4 seasons of loneliness and it's video, but no one gave a shit about them after that, although a song for mama was sweet, and can't let her go was nice
I remember wanting to go to the concert and was devastated that I couldn't, cause my cousin landed tickets and knew I wanted to go so badly, but ended up going with her boyfriend at the time. She didn't mean to hurt me, but it really stung, and things like this have taught me not to put any boyfriend/date over true friends. If they feel left out and can't accept that I have other friends, they can screw off.

I guess the best way to look at this is...a paycheck's a paycheck, right?
None of those 90s R&B boy bands lasted.Where is Shai (whom I actually liked)? Where is Color Me Badd? Where is Jodeci? Where is H-Town? Silk? Riff? The Neutrons? Soul For Real? All-4-One? Next? At least Boys II Men can still get a gig.We can't say the same for some of those other boy bands I listed.

I think if Boys II Men were to team up with another 90s R&B act, they would at least be able to sell out small theatres....
Boys II Men and EnVogue? Boys II Men and SWV? Boys II Men and Keith Sweat? or team up with New Edition, who are always doing successful reunion tours.

Sadly, you are right. Boyz II Men were cool. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I've noticed that the 90's did not produce a lot of long lasting acts. The only one I can think of that is still doing strong is Mariah Carey. It's a shame that Boyz II Men couldn't stay big cause those boys made some good, even great music. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Exactly. A gig is a gig and they were booked for it. The event is free but it's not that the performers work for free. It's not much financially, but artists fees come out of the production budget or money from corporate sponsors. it won't be a lot, but on the it's waaaaay more than what an average person gets paid for a day, and with it being a park/event type of gig they will make more than if they were doing regular night gig at the hottest club in town. Their names aren't on world stage marquees anymore, but as singers and musicians,I'm just happy to see the brothas WORKING

I was just joking with some of you guys. I know it's amazing how these guys went from selling out arenas to singing for city officials at the local park. It does seem to me that the guys are still trying hard to deliver genuine r&b without compromising themselves such as recording a song with T-Pain to get airplay. If that was the case, i think some boyz II men fans still wouldn't be satisfied. That's the only point i was trying to make. I would go see them perform at the state fair in my town if it was for 10 dollars. Don't laugh at my funk

Boyz II Men is still really big overseas. They are doing a retro 90s tour with Johnny Gill, Bobby Brown, and some other artists right now.
Hey, they're paying the bills. Lots of groups that you think have died off actually continue to tour for years and years, playing to a narrower audience of hardcore fans, but playing nonetheless. Nothing wrong with that.

Forget average folk, it's more than the average musician. These people that are all in our faces, half of them are ass out and couldn't gig to save their life.

BIIM epitomized the 90's, so the fact they are still touring in the Y2K's is a good sign for them.
I mean, the 80's had a perfect mix of solo acts, bands, groups, and rappers. In the 90's it was all about the groups, as mentioned already, with cookie-cutter pop solo acts. The Y2K's is all about cookie-cutter solo acts who collaborate on every damned song. [Edited 2/6/08 5:24am] I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

i bought it, based on the concert that i saw them. the covers were good live..but the cd.. it's like they picked every classic song that you should never ever try to covwer, and then covered them with vocals that were subpar in every way. i was very disappointed--i played it once, put it back in the case then tried it again driving home in traffic--took it out again, and then put on one of their own cd's

I don't think the six flags deal is a bad gig.
I mean big name artists like kirk franklin, fred hammond, etc are still gigging at carowinds. The only reason why some of these big name pop acts aren't doing carowinds any more is because of the variety of venues in charlotte now such as the verizon amphitheater. Don't laugh at my funk
