Yeah, it was written for Jackie BY Mary, mind ya. But Berry Gordy figured Mary should sing it. Took her 27 tries before Berry picked the one he liked. You know Mary was MAD! evillol

Is that Diana Ross? wink

Yeah, I should have made it clear that SHE wrote that song for Jackie, as that is as strong a statement about her talent as her incredible voice.

LMAO!

Nah, I don't even think Diane was even in the building when Mary recorded this (which was in the summer of 1960), Diana and the Supremes joined Motown in 1961. By that point, Mary already had hit the top 40 with "I Don't Wanna Take a Chance".

This song is just PURE SOUL! music

It is.

And a big reason to pop in here is that occasionally I'm reminded and/or hipped to things that have unfortunately thus far been given the short shrift in my music collection.

True. If only there was a Mom's and Pop's store that sold old soul music collections for $5, lol!

Yeah, but it only works if people like yourself are willing to do the work.

I just come in here and reap the benefits. wink

But I just wanted people to know that there is quite a bit of thievery quietly taking place in the shadows here.
