Report: Britney Attempted Suicide

sad I feel sorry for her.

Posted Thu. Jan. 31, 2008 2:37am by Jen Heger

X17online is reporting that Britney Spears tried to kill herself this evening. The photo agency says that troubled pop star, who had been hospitalized on January 3 on a psychiatric hold, had attempted suicide at her Beverly Hills home, and that her mom, Lynne, had rushed to her side.

As PageSix.com reported just a few hours ago, Britney had been on a wild ride over the past day, and her behavior included trips to a number of random locations and an argument with her pal/sometime manager Sam Lutfi. A Spears family insider told PageSix.com earlier this evening that the 26-year-old was "on a manic high," adding, "She's been up all night and hasn't slept in 24 hours straight."

That same insider is now claiming that the pop star didn't attempt suicide, but admits that a doctor was at Britney's home in the Summit gated community just a few hours ago.

Officer Brose from the LAPD confirmed to PageSix.com that police have responded to Britney's house but couldn't provide any details of what was going on.

Story developing...

However, the tabloid business makes over $100 million on covering her alone.

I feel for her. I hope she recovers.

Exactly, they dont ignore her because they would go out of business if they did, and so would TMZ and that shit Perez Hilton.

But taxpayers shouldn't be forced to pay for another media created britney meltdown.

She should be charged.

The escort she received to the hospital was the type usually reserved for heads of state. That is ridiculous to me.

I think she'll be charged for the ambulance???

I dunno.. I'm just glad she's out of sight, finally getting the help she needs. As far as I'm concerned, this should have happened a long time ago.

It's ridiculous she was allowed to "build-up" public interest, so to speak. That's the problem.. This whole thing was allowed to snowball out-of-control. It didn't have to be that way.

I don't blame Britney. Actually, I blame her past legal representation more than anyone else. I can't even blame her parents anymore because they don't know what their doing and were probably in denial as to how bad it really was.

But the true professionals around her--over the past two years almost, KNEW the girl was on the verge of a breakdown. They could have and should have pushed her hand a long time ago then a police escort wouldn't have been necessary.

Ya know what? I think Hollywood--or the entertainment industry--needs to take a hard look at itself. I'm no prude, but I'm sick and tired the industry in general just being in denial about a lot of things. It's very admirable of them to promote world peace and fight hunger or what have you, but they need to look in their own IMMEDIATE back yard, too--and I'm not talking about their "art." I'm talking about more the way they live and what they represent to people.

And what really pissed me off was during L.A. Democratic debates.. so many celebrities had the best seats.. No.. they NEED to be treated more like everybody else--especially during the Democratic debates.. where we are talking about narrowing the divide between upper class and the rest of us. REAL people should have been front and center for once--not the celebrities who "buy" their power--but many don't even know what the heck they are talking about--don't even have an education except for what their fame and fortune has allowed--and that experience/education is quite dubious.

They need to sit down and listen for a damn change. mad neutral They need to look at "their industry" and try to stop the madness or reign it in...

Is that why the helicopter showed up? I just felt they over-reacted. confuse

But the poor girl, I hope she accepts the help.

I agree with alot of things you've stated.

I'm not up on the all details released to the public, other than this escort in question not having been a matter of suicide attempt response, rather than a well-planned orchestration by her phsychiatrist to finally get this poor woman into treatment. It would be very sad to see two young children lose a mother at such a young age, so it's great she's finally got some serious medical attention.

Still I think it's a pathetic waste of taxpayers money give her an escort normally reserved for a head of state. That would include foreign dignataries, our domestic governors, and (until recently) the President of the United States...and the only reason why his escort has gotten bigger is because of security concerns after 9/11 and the march into Iraq. This shows me that collectively it's time for us to seriously re-examine our priorities with how we spend our tax money as well as re-assess the media's morbidly relentless pursuit of celebrities to make a buck. Helicopter escort??? I'm all for seeing a troubled woman receive help to become a a healthy & productive mother & citizen of society again, but it's not like she will have people trying to assasinate her or attck her from overhead air space and she's next in line to assume the responsibilities of public office.
