Young'un. So? That's still my era and I love the songs from that era. Ask me what songs I like this year. You'll be shocked.

Really? I didn't know you were that young. You and I are around the same age, had no idea. I thought you were at least in your 30's lol. Damn. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

I can't even dig most of the "newer artists" out there. Fuck a ringtone. Give me a great pop/soul/R&B/rock/funk/whatever joint and I'm cool.

one of the best years ever in pop music and the 80's. Most of the first music I ever knew was from 1982/83 and up

Billboard's got a chart for that, too.

Yeah I feel the same way. I'm not really feeling most of these newer artists out today, which is why I mostly listen to old school music. I almost never listen to the radio anymore. I really think I was born in the wrong era lol. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

I listen to the Sirius Big 80s Top 40 each week and for this week in 1984, the numbers were really different (of course, maybe Feb 4th was a different week). I didn't hear the whole thing but I think "Pink Houses" was 13 and "Break My Stride" was #2. I'm starting to wonder what chart methodology they use since last week they said the number one song was Taylor Dayne's "Don't Rush Me"...but that peaked at 2 according to Billboard.

They could be using the Cashbox chart. On the Hot 100, Break My Stride peaked at #5. I took this straight off the Billboard chart from this book...

And saw James Brown just WHEN he got HOT!

It must have been Mellencamp at 13 with Madonna "Holiday" right behind. Very cool. Must be going off Cashbox, then. And I did hear that "Curly Shuffle" song! By any chance was it tied into that "Stoogemania" movie from the eighties?
