RS's Greatest Guitarists List

http://www.rollingstone.c..._all_time/

oh yes. another thread about this list. im just gonna bitch about it for a while:

*why the hell is Kurt Cobain at #12? he's mediocre at best

*Eddie Van Halen at #70? whatever. he should be in the top 10

*Eddie Hazel should at least be in the top 20

*where's Steve Vai? Slash? Peter Frampton? Prince?

*Keith Richards is NOT that great of a guitarist.

and Jimmy Page should have been at #2

ok im done
cream.

It baffles me how anyone can't see that Cobain and his band are overrated. It couldn't be more clear than it is here. Could any sane person defend this ridiculous ranking?

What an awful list, i cant give it any merit since the late TERRY KATH of Chicago isnt in there, Terry was playing shit that even Hendrix got from him, so without Terry this list is not even close, Terry should be in the top3.

Rowdy

It's a ridiculous list IMO. Eddie Van Halen is a top 5 great guitarist without question, in terms of chops, riffs and influence on the instrument and its players. Jimmy Page is a writer of legendary songs, but a below-average guitarist who does not merit being in the top 50, let alone #9. Kirk Hammett does not belong on the top 100 at all. Kim Thayil is a greater guitarist than Steve Vai?? Even Kim Thayil's mother would laugh at that.

The truth of this list is that the RS journos are trying to be challenging and niche, at the expense of any kind of sense at all. As a result, they end up looking dumbass.

Yeah it's silly, like calling Elvis a great guitarist because he was great and he played a guitar. Or John Lennon.

If Jesus learned to play Stairway to Heaven I guess he'd qualify, too.

nuts I really don't know why I let myself get wound up by these stoopid lists but....KIRK HAMMETT?! 11TH BEST GUITARIST IN THE WORLD?!

Gimme a break! To paraphrase John Lennon's famous quote when he was asked about Ringo: He's not even the best guitarist in METALLICA!
