I am glad that I have resisted getting into the discussion not because I would not like having a discussion with people who have different opinion but because I don´t like having discussion with those who think their beliefs are the TRUTH simply because it can´t be any other way because it is so "obvious" that they are right and anyone believing otherwise must be lunatic, delusional or whatever you call these people. Slyness alert. Mariah Carey is actually three quarters white. Her father was himself bi-racial. People call her father black just like they call Barack Obama and Halle Berry black, when actually neither of them are black. They are mixed race. But seriously I commented to a friend about how I wished we could see all the Jacksons and their kids together on Oprah the way she recently had 100 Osmonds on. My friend remarked that we would see how the Jacksons started out as a "black family" that with each generation "got lighter until they were literally white. A century from now the Jackson legacy may be represented by white people!" In hindsight I think it hurt for him to see that the most prolific member of black musical royalty had offspring that not only don't look like Michael or any of the Jacksons. True, it's called the "one-drop rule." It is a social tenet created during slavery to ensure the purity of one race (white) while stating the children of black-white unions were "black." In fact, it was an actual legislated rule (any person who could trace someone of African ancestry back in his or her family tree on both maternal and paternal sides -- and the qualifying number was as litte as one-sixteenth -- was considered "black") that has been passed down as a social practice. The best way to think of it is in the context of a genetic landfill. Both Halle and Barack self-identify themselves with being black. Not all bi-racial AMERICANS do so, like Tiger Woods. The individual has the right to decide how they want to be identified racially. To be fair to the rest of the brothers they have all married woman of colour in the pass, be them black or mixed race. They may have had nose jobs but unlike Michael at least they don't have qualms about producing children that look like JACKSONS or black. And I understand about their native Indian ancestry, you can see it in their father. Latoya, inspite of the surgery, has always been very fair. One of Tito's son, Taryll Jackson had strawberry blonde hair when he was young and has light eyes, so I understand how genetics can work. But in Michael case ALL THREE children have no hint of blackness. The funniest one is BLanket you remember MJ saying that the mother is black? If the mother is black and he is black then there is no way that boy would look like that! Such delusions!!
