Shelby Lynne, "Just A Little Lovin'" Anyone else digging the new Shelby Lynne album of Dusty Springfield covers?
I was a little scared to check it out - I'm a big fan of the "I Am Shelby Lynne" album, but then the cheesiness of her follow-up scared me off, even though I heard she has more than made up for the hideousness that was "Love Shelby" with subsequent releases. When I saw Phil Ramone was producing the new album, I thought it might be a safe risk...and I'm glad I gave it a chance. Nice, mellow, minimal, soulful stuff. Her voice sounds great - very pretty and smooth, and at the same time rough and kickass. I like.

Fucking labels and managers talking a principled artist into capitalizing on some awards. The album is a wreck. And yes she HAS more than made up for it and you need to get them NOW! I haven't had a chance to check this out yet but I am super excited . [Edited 2/11/08 20:34pm] 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740
